Talk about technology, AI/ML, ethics, politics, language, etc. He/him.

for openai to mess up sandboxing this badly indicates openai didn't take the issue seriously, which you expect because they don't take anything seriously for anthropic to mess it up is rank incompetence

i'm not the first person to come up with this but if you are Yegge-pilled and think that LLMs are living, ensouled systems, then there is no ethical use of them for work - it is enslavement. Can't have your cake and eat it too. either it's a living being we must protect, or it's a code robot.

Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

In the United States, there have been 103,436,829[3] confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,238,563[3] confirmed deaths, the most of any country, and the 17th highest per capita worldwide.[43] The COVID-19 pandemic ranks as the deadliest disaster in the country's history.[44] It was the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020, behind heart disease and cancer.[45] From 2019 to 2020, U.S. life expectancy dropped by three years for Hispanic and Latino Americans, 2.9 years for African Americans, and 1.2 years for White Americans.[46] In 2021, U.S. deaths due to COVID-19 rose,[47] and life expectancy fell.[48]

Evidence so far suggests that it’s easier to discover previously unknown proofs in math and make new scientific discoveries than it is to make UI tests in Xcode pass reliably

I need to take ownership of my mistakes. I used computer. I think this happened because I'm a normal person. I know I've disappointed many of my fans who only watch my videos between praying and feeding the hungry. I'm sorry for being such a piece of shit

If you’re not unleashing your “proprietary model” (fine-tuned K3) against 4+ customers’ infrastructure this weekend, then you don’t even want to raise.

A very serious Rural Politico once told me "Dems have to go to farmer meetings! We gotta be where the people are!" I was in fact in a farmer meeting at that very moment! So I live-texted him the meeting. They were complaining that they want indentured workers that they don't have to pay or feed.

There would be more pushback if folks left of center were more serious about outreach. But folks aren't despite the fact that our system does give disproportionate power to rural areas. But instead of taking that as the rules of the game as it exists, and actually organizing, we complain about it.
