This is the context for Thanedar and Modi. It's not just "is Thanedar pro-India," this is a simplistic phrasing of the foreign influence question for a country numbering 1.477 billion souls. The question is perhaps more properly "which India."

If elected in the general, Abdul El-Sayed would be the first Muslim Senator, but not the first Arab Senator. There have been 6 Arab Christian Senators, including one from Michigan, Republican Spencer Abraham.
