A few years back, I uncovered an old VHS copy of the 1992 WSU Football highlight video. Since it's now officially Game Week, I'm sharing it here it in all its grainy, cheesy, mint green OmniTurf glory. (Doing it in five parts, starting with the intro, which is all footage from the 1991 season.)
Not surprisingly, Steve Gleason said it best.
Oh man, this hurts. Coach Doba wasn't just one of the nicest guys you could meet in football, he was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, period. The fun, funny grandpa that everybody wished they had -- if your fun, funny grandpa could also design a blitz like nobody's business.
Like all Idaho games, this Idaho-Cal Poly game would be better if they were playing it at the Kibbie Dome. And if Paul Wulff was still on the Cal Poly sideline, picking his nose.

Just pulled up next to Mark Walter at a stoplight! I yelled "Go Dodgers!" to him but he didn't hear me.
Complaining about the role of editors, when an editor would’ve saved him the embarrassment of this dogshit getting published, is absolute perfection.
No point in having a columnist if you're spiking columns. This Seattle Times v. Matt Calkins mess blew up like a hand grenade. I'm spilling some tea today. Read:
NYT Spelling Bee wouldn’t have survived the 2000s Cougfan message boards.
Doing a military flyover for the Field of Dreams Game seems gross. (Like, 25% more gross than it already is for other games in stadiums.)
This is petty as hell, but to be fair, I considered doing this on Ryan Leaf's behalf when WSU gave somebody No. 16 in like 2012.
Jayden Daniels has sent a cease and desist to LSU to quit using his name, image and likeness. Why? LSU dared to give his number 5 to another player. @sickoscommittee.org
sheesh, how many "best uniforms in college football" does Tulane need? 🔥🔥🔥
You just know those burgers are either the greatest you’ve ever had, or a rubbery circle of overcooked dog food. No in between.

Good afternoon. Here is Mets pitcher Jefry Yan's leaping strikeout celebration featuring Howard Dean's ill-fated 2004 election trail scream, because sometimes you can't rest until you've scratched that brain itch.
LOL, there’s a 100% chance Shephard will fail. Just coach football, dummy.
Oregon State coach JaMarcus Shephard talked 1-on-1 in an unusual setting early this morning. “As long as I’m here, we’ll take no shortcuts.” Read:
Those of you eager to serve wealthy MLB owners as volunteer Pinkertons won’t like to read this, but as usual Joe Sheehan nails the real problem:
Portland is not a "divisive political climate." The city is pretty unified in the extremist ideal that billionaires (even third-rate billionaires like Dundon) don't deserve a blank check.
if this is going to be the line then fuck these guys
Baseball: Stats are sacred, none of the home run records in the steroid era are real Also baseball: Yeah, sure, you get an RBI for scoring this guy who was automatically placed on a base. Whatever, it's fine.
Schools actually making the effort to maintain non-conference rivalry games? What a concept!
Schedule news: Iowa and Iowa State have extended the Cy-Hawk rivalry game four more years through 2031.
