Amanda Mull@amandamull.bsky.social · 2d agoI think this thread is basically what I believed when I began covering the consumer system and while a lot of what Nathan is describing is factually correct as to the mechanisms by which the system itself works, I’ve eventually had to admit that a lot of people also do just love cheap bullshit
a post on here talked me into getting a pair of Apple’s corded earphones for $20 bc they were meant to be better audio quality so I put them in and 5 minutes later turned around to see if someone was playing music back there bc I was hearing instruments so distinctly

there’s a genre of AI criticism which is downstream of everyone with an internet connection being involuntarily opted into a lengthy (endless?) product beta searching for market fit it’s completely justifiable there is a reason you release betas to people who ask for that experience

That’s why they think an AI transcript is a time-saver. They think the notes are the thinking because when a human takes the notes, it is.
for the record, I complained out of the blue to poor @pfrazee.com about the app’s hyperactive refresh making me lose my scrolling spot a week or two ago & don’t know if he even saw it but the problem seems fixed? maybe it’s some intercessory petition power #medievalism
