If hormones, or puberty blockers, were so dangerous, nobody would be allowed them. That some people are and that trans kids can even, notionally at least, stay on them if already prescribed, tells you all you need to know.

🤳 #TikTok is among the social media platforms on the frontlines of information warfare in northwest #Nigeria. In recent years its short, viral clips have shaped fear, legitimacy, narratives – and even state response. So what does this means for humanitarian actors and policymakers? buff.ly/kV5V9T3

Digital spectacle and the reshaping of crisis response in northwest Nigeria

Excellent commentary from my colleague Carmen: "Ultimately, we cannot understand migration without confronting the weight of history and colonial power. Too often, policymakers frame migration as a matter of ‘choice’ ... This kind of language erases history." odi.org/en/insights/...

What can Bad Bunny and the Super Bowl teach us about migration?

Bad Bunny’s lyrics and Super Bowl performance reveal how migration is shaped by colonial legacies, economic pressure and forced displacement.

Signing a petition is something small, but it's something. Trump is creating a humanitarian catastrophe in Cuba while we're all distracted by Venezuela, the Olympics, the files and everything else. Canada needs to act.

We should immediately follow Mexico’s lead and condemn this act of economic warfare. And we should step up with humanitarian assistance to the Cuban people, as NDP MP @alexboulerice.bsky.social calls for in this excellent parliamentary petition: www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...

my dad didn’t go to university and he was extremely happy to pay taxes for his four children to do so; and, indeed, for the doctors who treated him at Addenbrookes to have gone to university as well.

Antisemites have long depicted Jews as members of an urban, elite social class. So when Farage dismisses accusations of antisemitism as the exclusive concern of a London-based “upper middle class”, he’s deliberately invoking that dog-whistle stereotype.

“Using generative AI to create original, public-facing content (text, video, audio or images) can be fraught and in our view poses the greatest risk to public trust if not managed carefully. We will be extremely conservative when using it.” Better than I expected, but how about not using it at all?

Scrapped. The one in one out policy needs to be scrapped, not just "suspended". Rather than providing a "safer alternative to channel crossings" it undermines, already weakened, protections for trafficking victims and creates a cycle of people for gangs to prey on www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Fifteen French and UK human rights organisations are calling for the suspension of the controversial “one in, one out” treaty in a legal challenge that has been launched in France.

The "one in one out" policy is spectacularly counterproductive at achieving that, and potentially incredibly dangerous and liable to cause significant harm to already traumatised individuals. Expanding it makes this a whole lot worse. 3/
