As I said the first time Trump proposed tariffs: this is precisely why he likes them! It makes everyone come to him on bended knee, begging for exemptions. It makes economic survival dependent on his whim. That, not any economic theory, is the whole attraction. Mafia boss thinking.

While Sen. Katie Britt was publicly defending Trump's tariffs, she was privately seeking exemptions for 4 companies operating in Alabama that could be hurt by tariffs, according to emails between her staff & Trump's US Trade Representative, obtained via FOIA by @wsj.com. www.wsj.com/opinion/kati...

Did you know our great Deschutes Co. Clerk Steve Dennison is up for re-election this fall? Did you know he has a Trump supporting opponent who has zero govt experience and who has made bigoted remarks online? Vote all the way down the ballot, folks, for sane and principled election officials.

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against a Trump administration effort to restrict mail-in voting. Deschutes County Clerk Steve Dennison spoke with “All Things Considered” host Geoff Norcross about the legal back-and-forth on this issue.

the truly crazy making part of all of this is that voter fraud EFFECTIVELY DOES NOT EXIST. you have a better chance of finding an actual leprechaun at the end of the rainbow than of finding evidence of voter fraud that influences an election

Genuinely an insane paragraph from Sam Alito. “Voter fraud is real and scary and we have to stop it, so the fact that implementing Trump’s mail ballot rule will disenfranchise millions is legally irrelevant.” Brain melted. A right-wing podcaster in a robe. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

As for the equities, the Government has a strong interest
in enforcing the rule, and implementing it will also “en-
hance the visibility of Federal Ballot Mail” in order to better
detect election fraud. 91 Fed. Reg. 54972. On the other side
of the balance, the plaintiff States invoke the practical ef-
fects of implementing the rule close to the midterm elec-

enough to convince me to deny the application.

Pretty wild that the US president openly and explicitly offered US citizens bribes in exchange for voting for his political party in an upcoming election and the best the establishment US media can muster is that it "invites legal questions."

A $5,000 dividend proposal if Republicans win this fall invites legal questions

President Trump promised a monetary benefit for Americans if the midterm elections go his way. He hasn’t said exactly how such an initiative would work.

There’s been a lot of confusion about attempts by the Trump administration to interfere with how we cast our ballots. But here in Oregon, we’re united. Your right to vote is non-negotiable, and we will protect it.

Happy 72nd Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools. She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama. The past isn’t past.

Diesel hit a record price in the U.S.—an average of $5.85 per gallon—thanks to Trump’s illegal war with Iran. When the price of diesel goes up, the price of almost everything, from groceries to clothing, goes up. You and your family are paying for Trump's war of choice.

Gorgeous sunrise this morning as I stepped into the KTVZ studio for Ask the Mayor. I've been answering your questions on the 6am news for almost four years now. Residents often tell me they how they appreciate this segment and the opportunity to hear from the me directly about issues big and small.

When you get home at 11pm from the Council meeting, after a three hour hearing to bring new homes into the city with an hour of testimony, and you had to kick out two people for shouting "F*** YOU!", and now your cat is also mad at you for being late, but it's okay because he's so cute 😅

Remembering the time Drazan started a nonprofit, held a roundtable about housing in my region without inviting me or anyone from my city's govt, agreed to have one call with me about affordable housing afterwards, and then I never heard from her again. Performance doesn't gain us progress.

Christine Drazan opposed nearly every major housing bill during the 2025 legislative session. She also missed more than one-third of her votes in this year’s session. Leadership means showing up when it matters, and I always will.
