Writer, painter, frustrated gardener. Absolutely will never use AI. If you post AI images, I will block you. She/her.

AI RANT Following the cancellation of three major debut book deals over AI suspicions, I decided to put my own (needless to say, 100% human-written) prose to the test. My detector of choice was Originality AI, and the results proved to be jarring, to say the least. 🧵1/5

Cover reveal days are such fun, huge days for authors. But you know who they can also be huge for? The illustrators. Don’t forget to credit them. Cover reveals always blow up outside of an author’s bubble, and someone who sees it could be that artist’s next gig. ❤️

The article is good. One point though: Scrivener doesn’t use AI. The generative AI function is Apple Intelligence and I would recommend all authors to turn it off. That will remove it from Scrivener and everywhere else. You can learn more from this article: www.literatureandlatte.com/blog/scriven...

Scrivener and AI: Why Do I See AI Prompts in My Scrivener Projects on Mac? - Literature & Latte

Seeing AI icons in Scrivener on Mac? That's Apple Intelligence built into macOS Sequoia and Tahoe. Scrivener itself contains no AI features.

I have heard there's been a fancy new update that tells you when someone follows you from a starter pack Let's try it out, what do you say? Pleasantly surprise a few human artists :D

Bluesky should go back to invites, continue aggressive bot bans, create a Craigslist-style marketplace (since you’re more likely to buy/get services from a educated or good person on here than any other social network), and market this place like a walled garden protected from enshittification.

The attack on Fauci is *just the start*. They will attack climate scientists next, then biologists, then anyone who doesn't toe the anti-science MAGA line. They want to silence reality. I signed the petition. It really does help. I'm asking all of you to do so as well. Please.

OK FOLKS! We all know the Fauci hearing was meant to intimidate scientists…holding him in contempt of court was a HUGE BAD PRECEDENT. So, we are yelling. @standupforscience.net SIGN OUT PETITION TO SENATE TO REVERSE HOLDING DR FAUCI IN CONTEMPT: zurl.co/SLjT8

I assume that Axon cameras have a similar quantity of interesting metals as Flock cameras, but might be harder to get to. FWIW, I took a quick peek at deflock.org and while the majority of cameras in MSP are Flock, there are a few Axon and quite a number of Insight cameras, an Axon partner.

Dr. Damien P. Williams is just… so tired.@wolven.blacksky.app · 2w ago

Way too many people focusing on the names on the tools and not the sociotechnical, sociopolitical, and technopolitical systems and frameworks underlying their design, deployment, justification, and use.

Using lists of three is not an "AI tell." It's a common trait in human writing because our brains biologically want to make sure there's always one thing to marry, one thing to fuck, and one thing to murder.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
