Technically, I wrote a prequel to WIP 1 and then wrote a prequel to WIP 2. But WIP 5 is going to be a sequel to WIPs 1-3, and I have plans for a novella-length sequel to WIP 2 and possibly WIP 1. But first I need to write WIP 4, and then 6, then 7. So why not? my TBW is too damn long! #WritingPrompt

It was very likely not a "novel" but a play, and was very likely listed as "comedy" (since romance, as a genre, didn't exist as a label yet). Shakespeare notwithstanding, it was probably "Tamer Tamed" (John Fletcher) or "A Bold Stroke For a Wife" (Susanna Centlivre) (1/3) #SumeLuv

Her suspicions were not abated. They’d only met yesterday and were as good as strangers. Isabell found that weird. Then again, she found Julie weird. The eighth grader was brave, loud, and somehow immune to embarrassment. That was practically the textbook definition of weird. I love a good meet cute (love writing them) though my WiP doesn't have a classic one. The first time my MCs see each other is at the will reading where Sarah inherits her grandmother's cottage (and the job of a local witch that comes with it, though she doesn't know that yet). #SumLuv

The woman meet her gaze steadily, dark eyes staring out of an impossible to read face. Her golden brown skin was perfectly smooth, betraying nothing with a wrinkle here, or a dimple there — almost mask-like. As she turned back towards the front of the room, where George’s desk sat, her long black hair rippled and glistened in the light. It was practically iridescent, appearing almost green one second and purple the next. Sarah’s gaze lingered a moment, transfixed, before George’s voice brought her back to reality.

WIP 1 has a pretty standard meet cute, but it's not romantic at first since it's a 🦥❤️‍🔥 friends-to-lovers romance. So there's no fireworks, lingering eyes, just the tiniest tug of intrigue and interest (1/4) #SumLuv #sapphic #writesky

Julie hesitated. I should probably go back to class and leave her in peace. But from behind the locked door came the sound of muffled, shaky sobs. She sighed and pulled off her headphones, letting them dangle around her neck. She knocked gently on the door. “Hey.” “Occupied,” came a quick, defensive response. “Uh, yeah, I hear that,” Julie replied with a heavy dose of sarcasm. “Can you just leave me alone, please?” It was a sad, half-hearted plea. Julie didn’t know why she cared so much. She normally avoided seventh-grade drama, but even she couldn’t ignore the lengths Nicole was going—well beyond what anyone considered normal—to make this girl’s life hell. Julie would have left. Probably should have. But something in the voice behind the door kept her there. Even as it told her to leave. “I just wanna to make sure you’re okay,” Julie said softly. There was a click of the lock and the door opened, revealing Isabell’s tear-streaked face. Her eyes were red and puffy, but the shine of her tears and the flush on her face brought out the deep greens and golds in her eyes. “Hi there,” Julie said, grinning. Izzy barely recognized the woman in her living room. The ripped jeans, band shirts, and Kool-Aid hair had vanished. In their place was a tall, fashionable woman wearing a tailored black suit that was seriously interfering with Izzy’s ability to form coherent thoughts. The way the pants hugged Julie’s thighs was something Izzy was making a valiant, and spectacularly unsuccessful, effort to ignore. Under the matching jacket, Julie wore a vest—and apparently decided a shirt was unnecessary. The low cut revealed her cleavage, with a necklace resting just above the valley of her breasts. Black brogue boots finished the look. “You’re not too bad yourself there, Jules,” Izzy said like that wasn’t the understatement of the year. “You look like you’re ready to walk a red carpet or kick someone’s ass.” She considered the idea for a moment, then chuckled. “Or walk the red carpet and then kick someone’s ass.” Mel Waverly - A Playlist for Second Chances, chapter 38
