Hope these will disappear over time. Early on, it felt like webmasters were proud they'd added dark mode, so they showed it off. More and more followed, and it somehow became a weird standard. It's not a novelty anymore. It feels a bit like the old "Print" or "Back to top" button.

I had to edit the description and restart the poll because apparently EVERYONE misunderstood what this is asking. These are the only transitions that are in scope for YES: ✅ System (dark) → dark ✅ System (light) → light NOT: ❌ System (dark) → light ❌ System (light) → dark ❌ light → * ❌ dark → *

this started with my hue lights: every time I changed the room color, the tennis ball on the table turned into a completely new palette. same ball, new colors. so I built the room, a tiny raytracer where you don't pick colors, you place lights and sample them off a sphere 🎾💡

generative color palette idea: instead of editing colors, you edit the conditions they exist in. sample points from a raytraced scene. Move a light and the whole palette shifts together. coherence for free.

color-name-list@14.46.0 At ~30,000 color names, maintaining the list is less about making it bigger and more about making it better. This release focuses on removing duplicates, improving consistency, retiring weaker entries, and adding stronger new ones. Suggestions and PRs are always welcome.
