here's another throwback from 2016 a private poster commission inspired by Moby Dick honestly still really love this one, both the concept and execution i worked on pre-inked scratchboard for this one (so fully black) instead of the usual white claybord that i ink myself 30x40cm

If you are a penciller, try to do the lettering of your own pages with a desire for good readability and integration, and you'll learn enough to empathize with this

Not to be DRAMATIC, but the difference between lettering over an artist who does not think about the lettering while doing layouts, and one who does, is like the difference between being buried alive and standing in a field on a beautiful day, feeling the wind in your hair and the sun on your skin.

This struggle is so real. I see my previous pages and it's "oh, they look cool" but also "how did I do this??". And I have to inverse-engineer refs and documentation T_T

it sucks mostly just because BEFORE Hell Summer got into full swing I was on a really strong tear with stylization, acting, fluid and consistent art now I'm having to shake off the rust to get back to where I was 🐀💦 it's rough when you gotta open your shape breakdown refs in the ref window
