I too am very sad that Gloria Steinem is dead, but I am seeing a number of people post "Rest in Power," and I just want to give a gentle reminder that that phrase has very specific connotations for/in Black culture and is probably not the right one for this situation.

On the topic of classroom pedagogy after gen AI: this semester, I'm trying out for the first time using hand written "blue books" for in-class written exams, for a first year undergrad humanities class. Has anyone else tried this, and if so, any suggestions or caveats or interesting anecdotes? Thx!

First day of classes today for our Year 1 Digital Humanities Master's students. As an international program we always get such a great mix of people from so many countries. It's amazing to see, and they all seem happy and eager to learn. This is the good stuff! Tiny Joys!

If so, what does it look like (e.g., length of the internship, boundaries for what counts as a suitable internship, does it have to be connected to thesis, etc.)?

The search for AI ROI continues. University admin gave a presentation to faculty senate on AI. They begged us to discover use cases for them. All they have is a bespoke Ai tutoring agent and hopes and dreams for improved internal operations All senate had to offer was complaints about cheating

'The report explains that a recent decline in international students has led to "immediate and severe" consequences for the higher education balance sheet. 'a reduction in public funding, rising inflation and high energy prices have also harmed Scotland's higher education institutions.' 3/3
