I spotted these from the bus last week. and went to investigate today. All now well past their best but an incredible 100+ Bee Orchids on various traffic islands on the Sheepscar Interchange in Leeds City Centre.

Lo and behold this snake DID eat a deer mouse we tagged two days ago. We know bc our scanner found the mouse’s microchip in the snake’s belly. With enough similar data, we can ask about food preferences for snakes and/or if there are any mammal traits that make them more likely to be prey! 🧪

Day 4 took us across Oberschwaben to study how the landscape surrounding white stork nests shapes their breeding success. Road trip, birdwatching, and spatial analysis in R 🗺️💻🐥 What more do you need for a successful field-course day?

Day 1 of our Landscape Ecology Masters course at the Federsee was already very rewarding. We spotted Bearded Reedlings, Bluethroat and a fluffy Common Tern fledgling 🐥

Several people standing on a boardwalk that leads through a thicket of reed.
