If you accurately predicted everything Trump has done this term you would have been derided as hysterical and suffering from some sort of derangement syndrome where you assume the worst of a demonstrably awful person

Over the past two weeks, I’ve been following the attempts to smear the Jane Doe in the Cornell University gang rape case and redirect blame from the seven fraternity men onto her. As usual, this campaign is built on a mountain of lies and misogyny. spitfirenews.com/p/cornell-ja...

Debunking the smear campaign against the Cornell Jane Doe

Authorities, media outlets, and pundits are lying about this woman. But only her credibility is getting judged.

It's inconceivable to me how someone who lost in a free & fair election can incite an angry mob to attack his own government, (the very definition of treason) & be allowed to run for any office ever again.

This. It has always been this. A sitting American president did this. And because he did this, he should have been convicted and put behind bars. And the fact that we never held him accountable for these crimes will forever stain this country. And we may never recover from it.👇

I feel like we are so used to living in a time of madness that we can't grasp just how insane the Kennedy Center dispute is. Trump took something that was running just fine and destroyed it because he couldn't put his name next to the murdered president whose memorial it is. That's completely nuts.

Trump's assault on the Kennedy Center is exactly as if he tried to add his name to the Washington Monument or the Jefferson or Lincoln Memorials or any gravestone at Arlington. Our worst president--in the running to be seen as the worst American ever--is trying to steal the glory of our heroes.

This is why Trump can’t stand Black women. They don’t take his shit. Let’s appreciate Rep. Joyce Beatty for being the fighter we need. Trump: “I think you’re incompetent.” Beatty: “I know you’re incompetent.” Then she reminded him: “You had more bankruptcies than anybody in the room.” 🔥

This broke my heart because it gets to the part of this moment that is hardest to confront. The danger was never just the con man. It was the hunger for what he was selling, and the willingness to sacrifice compassion, decency and other people’s humanity to get it. Read this.

You know what truly breaks my heart?
It's not that America fell for a brilliant con-man. He isn't. And they weren't fooled.
What I find devastating is how many people were absolutely desperate to believe the lies.
How many ached for permission to dress their cruelty in patriotism. How many clung to racist. Homophobic. Transphobic.
Ethnocentric stereotypes. Because they thought the lies were promising them a shortcut to power. A way to profit.
Personally and politically. From the suffering of millions of absolutely innocent people.
The tragedy isn't the con. It's the hunger for it.
The willingness to trade compassion for the cheap thrill of feeling superior. The way hate sells because too many people show up already desperate to buy. —KALEN DION
