My son has his friend round. I had completely forgotten how much 10 yo giggle at everything. It is the nicest sound in the world. There are usually a gaggle of them, so it is nice that it has just been the two today. Truly lovely. They eat utter crap though and the music choices are DIRE.

Had an eventful trip to stratford. Made the boy work out how many hrs on a minimum wage job (minus rent and expenses) it would take to pay for the endless fecking crap he wanted to buy, then stopped a young girl assaulting a station ticket officer and had a stern word with her. Full on Mumming.

I did this last year and it was fantastic. Great group of people and completely safe environment to develop ideas and style. By far the most productive PhD experience I have been lucky enought to be a part of (and I got a good sleep and someone else did meals three times a day).

Went to Southend adventure island as not the school holidays, so we were smug. Turned up on possibly the worst ever day as over 4,000 school kids were there celebrating end of term. It was chaos. And much fun. I have sunburn. Children sleepy
