Michiganders Against Data Centers (MAD) exists to support and connect communities in this shared fight against the alarming rise in AI data centers. 🔗 https://linktr.ee/michiganbemad

This is a well-produced segment. I encourage you to watch so you can hear the noise for yourself. The professor of environmental health science that they interviewed called it an “unprecedented new noise source.”

Neighbors say noise from Michigan data center is 24/7 and upending their lives

One Michigan community has been experiencing the reality of a data center next door for a couple of years now, and they say the sound has changed their lives.

A big #MopUpMichigan victory today! "After nearly a year of tireless organizing by volunteers and supporters, voters are one major step closer to making their voices heard at the ballot box to rein in out-of-control corrupt spending by big corporations and state-regulated utilities." 1/2

State canvassers finds Michigan’s ‘Money out of Politics’ effort has sufficient valid signatures michiganadvance.com/2026/07/24/b... By @bensolis1.bsky.social

Fixed it: Billionaires apply for MORE corporate welfare. Oracle, the tenant of the Saline Twp data center project, wants 50% property tax cuts since its costs have skyrocketed from $7B to over $43B in under a year. They already pay no sales/use taxes. Twp residents get nothing for their trouble.

Also, DTE raising rates on customers and helping build AI data centers doesn't sound like it's helping Michiganders at all. All good reasons why initiatives like @michiganmop.bsky.social are so important to get money out of politics so companies like DTE can't pay off politicians for favors.

DTE Energy did not pay current federal income taxes for the twelfth consecutive year in 2025 despite reporting $1.54 billion in profits, according to public documents reviewed by Michigan Advance. Story from @minnahfarshad.bsky.social

Michigan Governor caught on hot mic with Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk, discussing citizen opposition to AI data centers, bragging how she ignores their concerns: “We’re used to people saying 'f*ck no,' & doing it anyway.”🇺🇸

Hey Michiganders! If you're frustrated by politicians pushing AI data centers into your backyard without your consent, here's how you can take action. The best way to resist these AI data centers is to show up to city council meetings, voice your opinion, and meet like minded people.

Here are a couple of reason why people are pushing back against AI data centers: 1. Secret deals 2. Job loss 3. Increased electrical cost 4. Environmental damage 5. Land theft 6. Bought out politicians 7. Not a profitable industry 8. Privacy invasion 9. Digital property theft 10. Gaslighting

"The public has swung 49 points against data centers in just nine months" lol heatmap.news/politics/ame...

It's important to stay informed on the "why" Ai data centers are so problematic. This video from @floodlightnews.org and PBS is a great example of what is actually going on with facilities like these. The same thing applies to Ai data centers in Michigan.

In a new collaboration with PBS, we investigated one of the world’s largest AI data centers, using thermal drone footage to reveal the hidden pollution powering the AI boom.

In clips from the site of the Saline data center, so many of the speakers talk about how welcoming the community has been, that our input was vital and heard. Bullshit. We don’t want this. We didn’t get a voice. The decision was made without us, to use our resources to line their own pockets.

‼️They are setting up the Saline data center as a template to roll out these monstrosities in other communities. That’s why they keep lying about the residents of Saline “welcoming” this project; they want others to see us embracing the data center. Nope. We oppose it. We just don’t get a voice.

The tech billionaire told The Detroit News that "The Saline Barn" could be "a real template for how we engage with future communities."

Sam Altman is in town declaring victory on a data center project they had to pass without public comment. We need Terms of Engagement at the federal level to keep Big Tech from rolling over state and local governments to shove projects down our throats without clear protections.

Beyond disappointing, disturbing, and disgusting that this happened at all. Again, this is why initiatives like @michiganmop.bsky.social are so important to get money out of politics so that the priority of our government is to help the people first, not corporations.

Sellout Gov Whitmer posing with OpenAI’s Sam Altman at Saline data center site this afternoon. So gross 👎👎👎

Michiganders are tired for politicians selling out the state to corporations. This project in Saline was rushed with little to no input from the residents. This is why initiatives like @michiganmop.bsky.social are so important to get money out of politics and put priority on helping the people.

Our governor poses with him, while the other politicians go along with or ignore it. I'm so tired of these spineless politicians.
