Me: Alright I've got to stay focused let's stay on these projects. *two hours later* "Okay so now if I wanted to make my own icons I need to get these color pallet such that it is distinguishable at a distance." Is this what @mostlybree.kitrocha.com feels like?

Dayjob: Marketing for Insurance. It's fine. Otherwise: I write books. I design games. I play TTRPGs. I talk about cats. Bi. He/him.
Okay. Friends. I've seen a few posts floating around basically saying "We're this close to hitting this funding milestone it would mean a lot if you supported it" and a few people saying "yo this book rocks" and. Let me put on my marketing hat a minute for a brief thread. 1/12
Eric is a positive gem and yall, if you're in the querying trenches or wondering how tf do you start? Look here. This is a WONDERFUL resource.
My annual “here’s a ton of free publishing advice” post. You can access: TWENTY successful query letters. Six book proposals that sold. A guide to research agents. And a guide to writing I.P. All for free, right here. www.ericsmithrocks.com/perfect-pitch
Counterpoint to the people saying "Look let's just be kind to someone when they die, or at least be silent" how about "Don't like your life like a raging asshole?"
@hebaha.bsky.social and I were sitting on the couch and I looked up. "Do you hear that creepy child's music box or is it just me?" And she blinked and said "You mean the ice-cream truck?"
When you’re reading a romance involving Fae bargains and you start to hear a sweet little distant melody chiming through the air… Then you realize it’s an ice-cream truck. Then you remember you live on a side street backed up against the woods and have never once seen an ice-cream truck here.
So how long do you think we have until Microslop removes the "classic" version of Office 365 that doesn't have any AI features?
Did I think it was a good idea - because my hands were full - to put my case that holds my ear buds in my mouth only to then almost choke on them and spit it out and scatter my earbuds across the floor? No. Clearly thinking was involved here. But in hindsight, that was a terrible idea.
During the Create Your Own Novel panel at SDCC this year, the best proposal I have ever heard from another panelist was made, specifically: writers should have walk-on music like wrestlers when we come out for panels.
this summer's cultural cross over we've all been waiting for jimothy x bayeux
I've been called a luddite more times than I can count at this point, but it couldn't be further from the truth. I'm a tech enthusiast, I've seen technology vastly improve lives, I just think *this particular technology*, Gen AI, sucks and needs to go.
Thank Godzilla they're not owned by Xbox or else they'd celebrate the milestone by closing the studio.
Resident Evil Requiem has sold over 8M units
Metal Scraps Covered in Moss is live for 7 days. A solo, junk journaling RPG zine played over 10 in-person days. Collect scraps from your "real life" to later chronicle as a Reclamator discovering the What Once Was. For fans of solarpunk, hopecore, and noticing. www.backerkit.com/c/projects/p...
That's the thing that pisses me off about all of the push for AI: The *audacity* and the disdain. The assumption that people are simply too stupid and stubborn to not notice a useful tool. Which is funny. Nobody had to keep saying "The iphone arrived" or "Smartphones are useful."
Hell yes we are. My people 🙏🫡🥰📚 techcrunch.com/2026/07/25/l...

Just like, of course, their AI "completely hacked out of a sandbox and is soooooo dangerous" this dude is getting desperate. And as a rule of thumb, I generally assume Clammy Sammy is just lying.
The 'singularity' refers to the point at which AI outpaces human intelligence and becomes difficult to control.
I am behind on my book. So naturally I'm assembling a game prototype. ...I mean that works.
Marketing hat for a second: Friends, did you just launch a campaign for something. I am begging and pleading with you, don't just do a post "And the funding is live! Boosts are appreciated!" That framing is the framing you care about. It's not for prospects. Like, what am I supposed to boost?
I mean you start by calling other dudes hot to "break down toxic masculinity" and then you realize oh you just think they're hot and then agonize about taking up space because are you REALLY bi and then you see a cute boy in the coffee shop and go Ope. Yep. Definitely bi.
How does one become indoctrinated into bisexuality?
So this is completely tangential from the typical writing stuff I talk about but for Magic: the Gathering I joke that if you look at the spoiler of a new mythic rare or rare, just look for it to say "draw a card" or "make a treasure" AND SO FAR THAT IS WORKING ALMOST EVERY TIME.
People are desperate for tangible things that can’t be taken away by greedy billionaires. CDs are cheaper and more portable than vinyl, and a greater portion of the money spent goes to musicians compared to the pennies provided by Spotify and Apple Music.
16.3 million CDs were sold in the first half of 2026 in the US, a 16 percent increase year-over-year.
Annnd that's enough news for me today. Peace out yall. Be kind to yourselves.
Out of curiosity, if you get Office 365 now is there any way to retain the "classic" version or are you just immediately shoved into the AI version? I keep wondering if they're going to remove that subscription option but so far *fingers crossed*
Okay, stacksocial finally let me sign in and get my license and Microsoft recognized it and allowed me to authorize the new installation and now I've got Office 2021 working on my desktop. Real fun that Microsoft might just unilaterally disable it in a few months as they did with Office 2019!

End of support for Office 2021 | Microsoft Support
Support for Office 2021 will end on October 13, 2026. All of your Office 20121 apps will continue to function, but you could be exposed to security risks. Upgrade to Microsoft 365.

Another historical inaccuracy from Nolan—IMAX had not yet been invented in the Mycenaean period, so this is not the aspect ratio that people saw in! Smh
Everything I hear about long development cycles -- this is armchair hearing no industry knowledge - is like "This game was in development for 8 years. We explored, boss finally settled on something, it didn't work, so we scratched almost everything and had to crunch for 2 years to release."
I keep seeing arguments for games being expensive due to hyper realistic expectations for art, or simply lots of art. What I don’t see is the actual most costly reason: Indecision Iteration is good, but the yearly rebuilding of entire characters, storylines, and levels, is the most expensive thing
With Google search going to shit, I propose we break Google's monopoly on the verbiage of search. I have been using Duck Duck Go because while they have AI settings you can very clearly and easily turn them all off. So instead of Googling something? I duck it.
I deal with phishing at dayjob and there's a Big Fucking Issue we have to confront and diminish, which is shame. Shame that they were duped. Shame that they failed a test. Shame that they gave their info over to a scammer. That shame is dangerous not only to the employee but the whole company.
I guarantee that everyone has read something generated by AI without clocking it at this point. Blaming a small press for being transparent about being fooled is wild.
