As a voting citizen of the USA for over half a century, the most insane & disgusting thing to me about Americans is the fact that even though national elections can be won by a handful of votes, 70 to 80 million Americans don't bother to vote at all while complaining about how bad our government is.
The president can waste hundreds of billions on bombing other countries for no good reason but god forbid that we waste a few billion on health care.

Also, as we all know, there are lots of rural areas that don't vote GOP. Coincidentally, they're all the rural areas that aren't majority-white. We do ourselves a real disservice pretending the "rural-urban divide" in politics is real. It ain't. Full stop.
Most rural areas have a ruling class. And they want cheap unfree workers & to pass their fiefdoms on tax-free forever. It ain't rocket science. The fact that we're scared to talk about THAT, ime, is what's costing us a lot of rural voters!
