Hi #queerwriters! This week I hope to: Start getting my mental health back into a configuration that functions. Not expecting miracles, but being able to put one word in front of another will be good. Read and blurb an ARC I’ve been sitting on for months. Intentionally rest instead of scrolling.

Me: Breakup grief sucks. Maybe a book will make me feel better. Book: Hey, wanna bawl your eyes out with a weirdly perceptive and relevant passage? (From THE DAY AND NIGHT BOOKS OF MARDOU FOX by Nisi Shawl.)

Picture of a book page that reads:

We continued on. Eventually, we reached my building. I had my keys. But I didn't want to go in—not really; that would end our walk. Which you'd think I wanted to do. End it in bed. I mean, isn't the point of everything? To fuck?Picture of a book page that reads:

No, it's not. The point is to make it, and by make it, I mean mesh: minds, bodies, pasts, futures, fears, hopes, dreams.

What’s the best / cheapest way to make physical zines? I don’t want to buy a home printer again, but I know the days of self-service honor system payments at Staples are long behind us.

I’ve lived in just 3 states as an adult: OH, NC, and NY. I’ve moved between the two, in that order, without planning to, for two full rotations. It’s weird. We want to move to MA after my teen graduates. Don’t know if it’ll help the anhedonia, but I want a change. More queer community, at least.

TELL ME YOUR 🏳️‍🌈QUEER SHORT SFF🏳️‍🌈 OUT IN JUNE 2026!!! Originals only pls, up to novella in length, indie okay. Just reply with the author, title, and a link to read and/or buy and I'll get them on the list. Here's May's list for context & more info: www.patreon.com/quicksiprevi...

Some Queer Short SFF - May 2026 | Charles Payseur

Pride Month might be wrapping up for many people, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to stop paying attention to awesome queer short SFF. Now,

[having to send a breakup text to an important but suddenly toxic relationship this morning] I hate polyamory, this shit is the worst, it isn’t worth it. [spending the afternoon mildly flirting with a new friend] Okay, poly is fine. But it’s on thin ice.

We have bought, transported, and installed a new washing machine (in addition to lugging the old washer outside and stripping some trim off the laundry nook because the previous owners made it so the trim was in the way of moving the appliances).

10 people have purchased Time Travel Is Easy from Amazon. 27 have downloaded it from Itch. 2 bought digital copies directly from me. I sent 1 to my cover artist and 2 to my blurbers. That’s a grand total of 42 copies moved. Less than I’d hoped, but okay for a niche self-pub SF poetry collection.
