I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

On behalf of the DNC, DSCC, DCCC, DGA, and Leaders Schumer and Jeffries, this afternoon we filed a new amended lawsuit and motion to block Trump's anti-voting executive order and the USPS rule implementing it. We will not stop fighting to protect voting rights and when we fight we win.

Dolly Parton: My daddy told me that the Imagination Library probably was the most important thing I'd ever done. In the beginning my hope was simply to inspire the children in my home county, but here we are today with a worldwide program that gives a book a month to over a million children.

BREAKING: After the Washington Post fired me last year for speaking the truth in the wake of the Charlie Kirk killing, I fought back. And I'm happy to announce: I won my case against the Washington Post. They have been ordered to reinstate me immediately. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/24/b...

Washington Post Ordered to Rehire Fired Columnist Karen Attiah

An arbitrator ordered the newspaper to reinstate Karen Attiah, who was fired after posting about “white men who espouse hatred and violence” following Charlie Kirk’s killing.

Seeing reports Collins is blowing off Vance in Maine tomorrow surely a Republican Senator dissing the Republican VP visiting her state it will get top billing in Politico Playbook, Punchbowl, Axios, Semafor....surely LOL. Just kidding, they'd only cover that if a Dem Senator did it to a Dem VP

JD Vance is going to Maine tomorrow. Surely, he'll be joined by his Senate colleague, Susan Collins. GOP candidate for Governor won't be there Per @pressherald.com "Spokespeople for Collins and LePage did not respond Friday to inquiries about whether they will be in attendance in Brewer" Huh

Please don't overreact to Roberts Court decision on the contemplated USPS ballot moves They simply held that the injunction came too early in the process, before there was a final rule👇 Now we HAVE a final rule & we will litigate it. I'm as confident in our arguments here as in any of our cases!

All I know is mostly white people on this app LOVE to HATE Hakeem Jeffries. More than they seem to hate *any* Republican. And they all claim they just have zero expectations of Republicans. But, clearly, zero expectations of themselves to learn what the job of House Minority Leader is.

We can't create a permission structure for the targeting of Jews due to the actions of Israel - which is antisemitic - and there can be no place for rhetoric normalizing violence in our politics. All Democrats should separate themselves from Piker. He's a gift to Republicans.

NEW: Trump is betting SCOTUS will let him interfere with the midterms after USPS published a rule to implement his anti-mail voting executive order. While lower courts have blocked the effort, SCOTUS will have final say on how Americans cast mail ballots this fall. Here's what to expect👇

Explainer: The battle over Trump's bid to restrict mail voting hits a pivotal point. Where things stand and what comes next

"By issuing this final rule, the Trump administration has flouted the court’s injunction."

Taraji P Henson tried to warn us that Project 2025 would hurt our most vulnerable, but y’all are over here screaming about Leader Jeffries meeting with Kushner. Stop the faux outrage and get your shit together, we have an election to win. Stay focused people and get out the VOTE!

Five years ago, Democrats passed the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act to restore key protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. House Democrats will continue John Lewis' legacy and keep fighting to make sure ALL Americans have equal access to the ballot box.

we have had some corrupt and awful governors in history of Texas, and the worst by far is our current governor. Abbott has done far more damage to Texas residents than any governor in our history. Texans please send him packing.

“In another sign of the rising blue wave and voters’ growing exhaustion with “anti-woke” partisan battles, last week’s election for the county’s school board was won handily by two Democrat-endorsed candidates, both of whom are former teachers.” open.substack.com/pub/america/...
