We shouldn't be calling creative works slop at all but I swear like 99% of people using the term friendslop are tongue-in-cheek/saying it lovingly (source: pure vibes). If I was making a silly friendslop fishing game or w/e I'd consider advertising it as friendslop because it's oh so hot right now
the bullies at school keep making me squeeze through narrow gaps so that they can seamlessly integrate cutscenes into gameplay without a loading screen.
if I ever taught film criticism lesson one would be “you being smarter than the movie is not interesting to anyone”
I was due for my 6 monthly big number dopamine steam deck game and Vampire Crawlers is scratching that itch so good. Every single time I go out of my way to try out one of these games they get their hooks in immediately. I find them in one go. We have optimised exploiting human nature real good
hot take: The Odyssey is good. someone hire me for more movie reviews
I think about this all the time, and there's a lot of identifiable reasons why things are like this, but it's just crazy to me that all these big series like Age of Empires, Command & Conquer, Medal of Honor, Driver etc (all of which I grew up with) are just thought of as random old franchises
i think one of the biggest underlinings in just how bad the western industry has been about its own legacy is like. myst isnt just an old game. it was final fantasy vii before final fantasy vii. it was that fucking huge.
Crimson Desert seems like it has some cool ideas but golly does it have an all time bad first few hours. Kliff with a K is a wet blanket of a protagonist with totally unclear motives and the game's controls feel like a memorisation test
I have discovered YouTube has added a new-ish setting creators can turn where people can only leave a comment on your video if they've subscribed for x amount of time. Which I reckon I'll turn on because I get some real muppets commenting on my vids lmao. I wanted to make this post as a bit of a PSA
I think enough time's passed to say I thought the final 2 chapters of 007 First Light were very middling and kind of fizzled out compared to the rest of the game (that I really enjoyed) MODERATELY SPOILERISH 007 FIRST LIGHT thread:

buying halo 1 in japan back in the day got you both the manual and a "training guide" which is basically a mini guidebook by Prima Games for the first mission
It was the most obvious thing ever that game discs were getting ditched soon and yet I still feel this weird melancholy. Like we all knew this was coming and yet here I am feeling all sad about heckin video games. I think it's mostly a culmination of this + the last few years of weekly bad news
I generally look back on my love of the video game industry of old as a nostalgia thing, and a lot of it is, but year on year I tend to think maybe things were just *generally* better
apparently I'm in the mega minority but I really like selling games when I'm done with them and lending them to people but fuck me I guess, this is the "natural direction" of things supposedly. back to being a pc only sicko
golly some retail staff are gonna cop some shit when people open their copies of GTA and there's no disc. pray for eb games employees in this dystopian timeline
I do not fully trust critics who are not both lovers and haters. All I want is for you to have some kind of taste, some kind of ethic, and I want you to argue in favor of it, which should inevitably mean that you greatly admire some works in your chosen field and definitely don’t admire others.
man I really enjoy going into new games mostly blind. I don't want to know THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE PLAYING insert game here, and I think this is a big reason why remakes basically never do it for me, there's just too much baggage, too much expectation. I know too much. how do i delete memories
instead of all these remakes someone should make a third game in the Stuntman serie-- hold the fort
my gamer thoughts on the new gamer show: - star wars xcom and podracing games look rad - the tupac thing is dumb but im not really phased by it (valid if you are) - love VF6s direction, very good vibe - 1666 is a big curiosity - clutch is after my heart - still no news on rockstars agent 2??
All video games are called Aegis of Dream: Storms Remain Age
played a bit of mixtape and these kids are so worried about their futures when they clearly should become pro skaters. rename the game to sponsor me tape
Achievements are a silly way to engage with an art form, but denying them to people who choose/need to use accessibility options is, by definition, antithetical to the concept of accessibility. "They're meaningless anyway", yes! So why would it bother you if someone can get them or not?
Played through The Directive 8020 yesterday with friends and I reckon it's the best of all The Dark Pictures games. This series is improving at a snails pace but it is improving, I reckon in about 5-10 games' time they will break the 7/10 barrier and make a 7.5/10 game. stay tuned
I love hopping on here to have a whinge and get thoughts off my chest about video games/this industry but I do truly love video games, there's so many wonderful games coming out, and I don't want to come off like one of those people who thinks modern gaming is DEAD etc. skill issue for those people
It's a tired point but I'll always be floored by how Destiny 2 deleted most of it's content, like I was so keen to get into it with friends during covid until we collectively realised we couldn't play most of the game, which explained why we couldn't decipher the layers of lore or complexity
