I don't understand why they'd withhold the author's identity. They knew what they were doing.
So...the book was worth $2.5million...but the bidders hadn't actually read the manuscript?? the agents hadn't read it? How tf do you get to a 14-way auction for millions and *then* turn round to say "terrible prose, reads like slop"?
Reminding myself that a book is never expired, esp. less than a year after it came out: FEAST OF THE PALE LEVIATHAN is my debut novel, a DMT death trip through the digestive system of empire. It is a political horror adventure that makes Hobbes’ Leviathan a real kaiju + New Atlantis a real “utopia”
Feast of the Pale Leviathan

I was a child in 1976. This chart illustrates the difference between what was going on weather-wise in 1976 and 2025. In 1976, the heatwave was an outlier. In 2025, it is part of normal variation. In 1976, a heatwave would be one-off. By 2025, it's likely to be on-and-off all summer.

Today’s free newsletter has a very simple message: The AI industry can not (and will not) be bailed out - AI is not too big to fail, OpenAI is not AIG, this is not 2008, and all of this is nothing like the Dot Com Bubble. And when it fails, we must let AI burn. www.wheresyoured.at/let-ai-burn/
