Anyone suggesting we should stop accurately pointing out factual ways that the president is wrecking this country on a daily basis, or expressing an opinion about that, because of something a random nut does is espousing a profoundly un-American concept that I completely reject.

Banks Township, in Northern Antrim County, has has a controversial proposal to eliminate all zoning, backed by some board members with perceived conflicts of interest. After over an hour of public comment, the ordinance failed on a 2-3 vote--so Zoning stays in place!
Also, for the record, this isn't a left-liberal-center thing. Ultimately if you're doing the work it doesn't matter AT ALL what your politics are. There are many good contributors from all over the spectrum. The problem is that these networks CANNOT work well if they're closed, vetted affairs.
Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social · 6mo agoOkay, I'm now hearing reports of other locals being removed from Minnesota rapid response for interacting with press, as well as some "organizers" instituting onerous screening processes to join these networks. It's time for local leaders to step in. These policies are incredibly counterproductive.

If random masked men are setting fires in your community, I think you should feel free to film them. Especially if dozens of other people and several national news crews are filming them. They are not "allies," they're arsonists. Grow up.

They're good neighbors! It's no wonder that "being a shitty neighbor" is the hallmark of our domestic politics and our foreign policy.

This is why the City of Traverse City decided not to hire the contractor behind this for a demolition project here, despite them being the lowest bid. It's important that work gets done right.

Nute@nutedawn.bsky.social · 7mo agoWow, seems terrible. If only they put a Smart Businessman in with near-total, unconstitutional remit over federal spending, I bet he could find out and then stomp it all out easily!
When GOP state Rep. Jim DeSana gleefully voted along to slash $645m in spending, he managed to do something comically incompetent, he also cut about $2 million in state funds meant to fix the roof on the James R. DeSana Center for Arts and Culture, a building literally named after his own dad.
Once again: If you're going to demand that Dem candidates NOT accept corporate PAC money, that means they have to be funded SOMEHOW. Most candidates HATE having to spend hours every day begging for donations. It's humiliating & takes time away from the rest of the campagn. But it is what it is.
