Extremely sucks. Incoming Dem admin inheriting both general fiscal problems but also expensive things to fix, likely also to face a hostile press who has suddenly remembered deficits & debt This is not dooming btw. Many of the challenges ahead seem insurmountable. But we will surmount them somehow

as noted yesterday, Trump has now come around to treating an Iranian toll system covering the Strait of Hormuz as a given. Hard to overstate the level of strategic failure. US started the war purely as a war of choice and ends up dramatically empowering Iran and given the Iranian govt big wins.

"Making fees voluntary, at least nominally, could be a way out of the impasse, although an implied threat of Iranian attacks could mean shippers would be unlikely to risk transit without paying."
They could always sign up to give comment at a public meeting.

I wanted Tom Steyer to be in the Governor's race, but he's not so I'm gonna vote for Becerra. I don't follow his campaign at all: I'm voting for him because he's not a Republican.

I largely agree with the person I'm quoting and the person they are quoting I don't get this analogy though. To analogize to what the trans women in sports people are saying, they're saying they'd object to the horse entering the race with humans, not wonder about why people aren't watching horses

This contest isn't even on the radar for the national Dems, AFAIK. She's has $3m cash on hand--Abbott has *$67m*. Some more highlights from the poll... /1
I think my bigger concern here is framing it as aligning with MAHA activists on common ground instead of saying quite clearly "MAHA is lying to you, look at what this administration has done, we're the REAL fighters for public health" and trying to break off casual followers there. Delegitimize it!
there are definitely downsides to the nuclear block but the reason I keep coming back to it as necessary and good is that it completely ruined the whole MAGA engagement model to the point that they prefer to mock us from the nazi bar rather than come here to troll us directly

i started this train of thought as a joke but now i do think there's something to the idea that the way to sell the green revolution to the US public is that we're being denied Good Deals on cheap chinese cars and solar panels and there's nothing more unamerican than saying we can't have a good deal
