Seventh paper acceptance of the year to #wundergrad Alan Sheu, who learned to code in FORTRAN as a first-year undergrad, implemented fully metabolically plastic mixotrophs in a full-on upper ocean biogeochemical model (COBALT), and wrote a 38 page, beautifully formatted response to reviewers!

Just saw a kid carrying his scoliosis brace in O'Hare. I told him that was me at his age, and to keep it up 💪 because my brace probably made me a few inches taller. His dad thanked me, and I shared how hard it'd been on my dad to strap me in to mine 🥺... Grateful for every part of this journey 🥹.

We're immensely grateful that our team has been given the nod from our Army program officers for #MEFCON (Manipulation and Encryption of Fungal Communication Over Networks; proud of that acronym honestly), a 5-year MURI trying to decode tree-fungal VOC communication.

Elise did gorgeous and, more importantly, easily interpretable and emotive work illustrating our manuscripts. Cannot recommend her or her work highly enough!
