There's a part in the introduction to @adapalmer.bsky.social "Inventing the Renaissance" where she talks about the trauma the Black Death inflicted on Petrarch and his friends...and thinking how he'd react knowing it can be treated now. (And how close we've come to squandering it.)

I’m astonished by the ability of my fellow humans to forget the events we all just lived through. Folks remember the masks and the remote school. The million US dead are rarely mentioned. Folks, we lived through a plague.

Earliest comics I remember were Richie Rich and Super Friends/Wonder Woman. As for impression *points to my usericon* I guess it stuck.

If you’re a comics fan, what’s the earliest comic book you can remember reading? And what kind of impression did it make on you?

When I was in college, I would often get mail from my parents. My father would mention which Mystery! show her was watching. He was particularly intrigued by Campion's family background. I found his edition of one of the books with his family tree musings.

I post for the people who grew up wailing “ahhhh! ahhhh!” in perfect time with the lady slumped backward over a gravestone in the Masterpiece: Mystery! opening credits and still do it every single time.
