So much spin in my inbox on the ‘new and improved ABA’ - which is the same as the old ABA. Listen to your autistic kids and adults, folks. Not to proponents of a PTSD inducing, dehumanising practice that was developed by the guy who created conversion therapy.

Turns out "autistic children don’t gain skills in navigating the wider world when subjected to ABA; they are treated, still quite literally, as rodents to be 'conditioned' to conform to non-autistic expectations." From @ejwillingham.bsky.social in this week's TPGA newsletter. Share and subscribe!

Yep. The dichotomy is dismissive of nuance and diversity within neurodivergence. It perpetuates the idea of a deficit - a problem to be solved. Makes it easier to dismiss ND folks’ abilities and their self advocacy on one hand, and ignore actual struggles and support requirements on the other.

The low-high functioning dichotomy really feels like the system's way of determining which disabled/neurodivergent people are worthy of personhood and who they're safe to discard. It's fucked up.

Inquilab zindabad! Did not think I’d see any kind of BJP loss in my lifetime, let alone such a thorough (and joyful) decimation. It’s just one resignation - nowhere near enough. But we know how fucking monumental this is. I hope this is the beginning of something and not the end.

This. An election now, wouldn’t go any differently. The voting majority is more concerned with drowning themselves in Hindu-Muslim than asking for accountability. But a lot of ‘apolitical’ folks were radicalized today. If thats directed towards elections, eventually it could count for something.

Being active in student politics in the BJP era, I have realized that protests are extremely important, but what this government fears more is an electoral defeat. And that's the reason India stands in the typology of "electoral autocracy" more than anything else. The power that BJP exerts... (1/4)

Surveillance and biometric collection disguised as…phrenology? Um, ok. So they’re not even pretending to disguise the bypassing of individual autonomy. None of these conditions require invasive procedures for diagnosis. Eugenics all the way down.

Hemispheric “has raised $52 million in funding after gathering data on 100,000 people’s brains to train deep learning models to examine the brain without the need for invasive procedures.”

Nearly 60 million have been deleted from the electoral rolls & millions more will follow. The deeper danger is that #India is moving from a constitutional presumption of citizenship to a presumption of alienage, writes Prof Niraja Jayal Subscribe: article-14.com/subscribe
