Humanist, mom, earth lover.

Help me out, Hive Mind! I vaguely recall a song from the 70s or 80s about a woman who married for money, not love. The song is addressed to the woman, who might be cheating (or is cheating) and a pool features in it maybe? Sung by a man. Am I hallucinating this? Ring any bells?

Domestically our government tries to prosecute people all the time who are clearly innocent. Even if you are not bothered by the lack of due process (and we all should be) huge amount of trust is going into intelligence behind who the US boat kills. And Senators are saying that trust is unwarranted.

The US military’s strikes on alleged drug boats have likely illegally killed “individuals who are not involved in narcotrafficking,” Sen. Tim Kaine told the White House, following “a careful review” of classified information he has seen so far.

Booker: "Ghislaine Maxwell is sitting in the lowest possible confinement after giving no information that helped us get one more investigation started and has been silent, and the man responsible for that we're about to make the attorney general of the US ... this is farcical."

All of these idiots assume that HRT does nothing to a body and these elite golfers would just waltz into women's pro sports unchanged. It's moronic. And there used to be clear rules before the morons started getting mad about this issue.

Celebrate AOC's beautiful path to the 2028 presidency, as proclaimed by Andrew and Tristan Tate's lawyer. 'McBride saw it as a given that MAGA couldn’t afford to lose his clients, writing on Instagram, “AOC will be the next President without the Manosphere and Andrew Tate.” '

“Andrew Tate was a material participant in ensuring President Trump’s victory,” McBride says. “And if Trump doesn’t support him, and if the next people who are going to be running for office potentially are just like, yeah, down the river he goes, that young cohort of people will break with the Republican Party in the next election.”

“If your superhero is betrayed by somebody,” he tells me, “the person who’s betrayed them, how can you support them ever again?”

For months before Sophie Cunningham's latest blow-up, Instagram and TikTok have been shoving tribute videos of her fighting Black players on the court into everyone's feed. I wonder why that is, and I wonder about the timing of the buildup.

Well, actually, kinda, yeah, close to what happened. It's not for nothing that Jack Dorsey, who started the place and was on its board, basically ran away when the trans folks and furries scared off all the crypto bros he assumed would be the natural demographic here (they went to Nostr instead).

Bluesky often seems like a project run by tech people who place great value on its architectural differences from Twitter, which nobody cares about, while not understanding how they walked ass-backwards into having a userbase (whomst they fear and despise)

OK. Since I'm a librarian and I must ORGANIZE ALL THE THINGS, I took all the titles mentioned by @tressiemcphd.bsky.social, @ali-alkhatib.com, and the Library Freedom Project and put them in a single list on bookshop.org: bookshop.org/wishlists/53.... (I did not coin "data politics," Tressie did.)
