If you're a fan of Lay's All Dressed chips (typically found only in Canada), Better Made's version is just as tasty. (Note: The flavor profile does not mix well with the flavor profile of coffee.)

Mr. Lisa & I's offices are 1 floor apart. However, my office is in our loft so I don't have walls and he keeps his office door open. We've been shouting about politics all morning. We have Google Chat, but no, we must shout even over music, fans, and general white noise. Reader, I married him.

I've been obsessively refreshing NPR and PBS's live primary tracker since 4 a.m. The state Senator for MI has still not been called with 96% votes counted with El-Sayed and Stevens just a single point apart with El-Sayed leading. And boo that Blomquist did not win my district's primary.

*NAILBITING* MI Dem Primary results for state Senator is too close to call! If Stevens takes it (Mr. Lisa says the math isn't quite mathing for her to do so), it'll feel like I did when Trump won in 2016: angry, frustrated, and wanting to tip all the tables.

MI Dem Primary Update: @abdulelsayed.bsky.social is at 59.6% of the vote compared to Stevens' 36.9%. Jocelyn Benson, for governor, is up is at 84%. In District 1 (my district), sadly Blomquist is behind by a few percentage but at this point it's anyone's game. I'm too obsessed refreshing websites!

I have a series in a national pub abt authors getting their books into bookstores & libraries. It's based on a popular workshop of mine. (I'm a librarian & bookseller so I know of what I speak.) A reader emailed my private email address & pitched his titles to buy. Did you not read the article?! 😮

Chatting with a bestie about sexy times and what we like from our partners. I told her that I love a good make-out and she said, “Gotta pre-heat the oven” and I have been cracking up ever since. 😂

AIPAC’s website has a list of all candidates pro-Israel. So many Michigan politicians, donkeys and elephants, take AIPAC money. It’s gross and depressing.

Stevens’ TV ads are nothing but BS attacks on @abdulelsayed.bsky.social. She is using the donkey playbook. Tomorrow, Michigan we vote! Get your ass to the polls if you haven’t done absentee or early voting. If you live in 1st District for Rep, Blomquist is endorsed by many who endorse El-Sayed.

🚨 AIPAC ALERT: +$430,547 supporting Haley Stevens and opposing Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. Confirmed Israel Lobby Total: $36.2 million+

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

I go from raging against AI, patriarchy, late stage capitalism, and facsism to decompressing watching super trashy reality TV (90 Day Fiancé universe, Love Is Blind, etc) and wholesome Korean reality TV like Chef in My Fridge snd Love Lab. I CONTAIN MULTITUDES. Just call me Whitman.

Side quest: My dad ILL'd a fiction read (his PL is not part of a consortium 😭) and I found great pleasure in telling him that every ILL costs money and that's his tax dollars at work (thankfully he would not repeat this rudely to a library worker when something goes sideways)

Some titles are from academic pubs, which means they are overpriced. (Don't get me started on THIS topic.) Check your local library, & if they don't have the title, use interlibrary loan. What is ILL? You request a title from another library, it's sent to your home library. Tada! You have the book.

My state's ILL system includes MSU and U of Mich (and other colleges and universities). I was super surprised to see that Techno-Negative was not available via Libby or ILL. I WAS able to get it via Libby from a non-MI library. (Rare instance I can't get a book from ILL. Third time in 15 years.)

OK. Since I'm a librarian and I must ORGANIZE ALL THE THINGS, I took all the titles mentioned by @tressiemcphd.bsky.social, @ali-alkhatib.com, and the Library Freedom Project and put them in a single list on bookshop.org: bookshop.org/wishlists/53.... (I did not coin "data politics," Tressie did.)

Bookshop.org: Buy books online. Support local bookstores.

A better way to buy books online. Every purchase financially supports local independent bookstores.

I teach a workshop called "The Source Whisperer: Research Without Using AI" (which also includes how to use search engines and stripping out AI results). Popular workshop for writers' groups. Based on my deep dives in the last few days, going to rework the workshop to include what I've learned. 😍

I've got shit to do this afternoon and instead, my AHDH and coffee infused brain has me on Bluesky sprouting my ideologies into the ether.

Something else I'm passionate abt is dismantling diet culture. My mother started me on diets when I was 8 b/c I had the audacity to be a tall child w/ meat on her bones. This has permeated my life for 4 decades. Looking back at pictures of me then, I was a regular kid who just happened to be tall.

I needed to call my health insurance company to get the RX Bin number for my pharmacy. I misread one of the numbers and got, "America's Hottest Talk Line. Guys, hot ladies want to talk to you." It's funny that my insurance company is one number off from this and second, talk lines still exist??
