You see so many things on your travels, this lecture will be helpful to better understand what you see and to specifically pay attention to the details. Another great video of a fantastic church(?) in Lviv. Looking forward to a new letter when time is right. 🤞for another trip to Lviv soon!

I’ve just finished watching a lecture on how to notice architectural details. We looked at different buildings in Lviv. It made me return to the videos and photos from my recent visit there. Perhaps it’s time to write another letter.

My first thought was regret, but I wasn’t sure why, unless it was the regret of trusting those unworthy of trust. I look forward learning more from your intake from the lecture. Or are you giving it?

Where's the righteous anger the news about Exeter has engendered? Where are the think pieces about learning loss and unconscionable redundancies? The problem will never be understood or *addressed* if we do not, collectively, respond to the full scale of it.

So it's farewell to the History subject area at the University of Hertfordshire, not the first nor the last to go. One of the best departments in the country, just extinguished like a snap of the fingers. Think of the waste. (1/2)

I am going through Bram Stoker’s earliest notes on DRACULA today - they include a list of the powers and features of the Count (then named “Wampyr” before Stoker stumbled on “Dracula”), many of which are never elucidated in the book…

• panters cannot pant hım; looks like someone else (38b)
• insensitive to music (38b)
• despises death and the dead (38b)
. is affected only by relics that are older than he is (38b)
• can create evil thoughts in others, banish good ones, and destroy will (38b)
• cannot be photographed; photographs come out black or like a skeleton corpse (4, 38b)
• can tell if bodies are dead or alive (4)
• sees man semingly dead and says "no" (4)
• has to be brought or carried over threshold. Dracula visits an asylum where he stumbles on the threshold (4, 16)
• named "Count Wampyr" (1)
• can determine and prove if people are sane (24)

Thank you for the update🙏 What a horrible night and terrifying morning. Reading these news is so sad and disturbing. My thoughts are by the victimes and their loved ones. I wish your day will be kind and you find some rest after this terrible night 🫂 Sending beauty and strenght.

Kyiv. The smell of last night’s attack is in the air. I’m making warcoffee. Reading the news. Warehouses belonging to civilian businesses were on fire. A railway station in the Kyiv region was hit. People were killed.

🔴UPD: Russian missile attack killed 15 people and injured 37 across Kyiv and the surrounding region. Exploiting a lack of air defense interceptors, Russia continues to terrorize the city, leaving civilians in grave danger with almost no time to reach shelter.

⚡️Update: At least 17 killed, 44 injured after massive Russian missile, drone attack on Kyiv region. Search and rescue operations remain underway after Russia launched 24 ballistic missiles, four hypersonic missiles, and 115 drones targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas overnight.

2,5 days passed, yet firefighters still struggle to put out a fire in the warehouses of Ukraine's publishing house Ranok and the bookstore Knygoland in Kharkiv. The russian army targeted them on August 1, burning 8M books, incl school textbooks — just weeks before the start of a new school year.
