I feel sad for all of us fans of the characters and the man himself, but as someone who watches the TNG bloopers whenever I’m feeling down, I’m feeling for those who worked with him and knew him. They all got along so great and must be gutted.

Republicans should have to answer for Elon Musk
The Republican Party's single largest donor is also a deranged white supremacist whose foray into government killed hundreds of thousands of people. And yet, the press is totally uninterested in making Republicans answer for their connection to him. What's up with that? ... "amplify your people" is 100% the best strategy
I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.
If you’re invited to a Halloween party and the invite says “Costumes optional” that means you can go nude, right? Need an answer within the next hour.

That Barack Obama posts on X doesn’t mean it’s a good place. He’s not having conversations.

Name 2 Films: one overrated, one underrated. Overrated: The English Patient Underrated: The Core (I wasn’t gonna play this one but these were the first two that popped into my head and I enjoyed the combination.)

Nothing cooler than hearing your back crack while dancing around the kitchen to “No Diggity”.
We got not one but two copies of a super-glossy, bogus “magazine” that was just ad copy for local businesses in the mail, one addressed to “Occupant” and one to “Resident”. My wife and I both concurred that she was “Resident” and I was “Occupant”.
I have heard some defend people going back to X by saying yeah but Zuckerberg is just as bad as Musk so are you going to leave Facebook and Instagram, too?! I actually did years ago but regardless I truly believe that Musk is demonstrably the worst person who is also CEO of a major tech company.
Oh.

Love how after any power outage a bunch of devices will complain about having been “shut down improperly”. Asshole, you slept through the whole thing! I had to live it!
I can have some cookies because I haven’t had a treat all day other than the secret chocolates I keep in my office but no one knows about those so they don’t count.

Remembering that time when some big name accounts were arguing that X is all good now and the algorithm has been de-Elon'd. Wait, that was yesterday. The same time this was happening.

I admire John Gruber. I think he’s a great writer. I think he’s smart as hell. He’s annoyingly funny, too. I am impressed and inspired by his success with both Daring Fireball and The Talk Show. I get excited when John links to one of my apps or articles.…

Today I want to talk about my favorite dummymanders. In a dummymander, the geniuses behind the map have cut margins too close, and create vulnerabilities for themselves. tl;dr: pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. Here are four states that took it too far - and where you can make a difference.

I really do think tech crossed a line at some point between "helping you do the things you want to do" on the one hand, and "helping you do the things tech wants you to do" on the other. At this point, we're all contorting ourselves to live how the tech industry thinks we should be living.
