One thing I keep seeing about why this particular monologue from him struck a nerve (aside from the time he used the r-word) is that in the context of news about Jane Doe/Cornell, opening up with the “joke” about women at the gym is particularly disturbing

What I immediately love about Mariska’s opening number is that she clearly knows she’s not a comedic actress; so she whole heartedly is willing to say yes to whatever the comedy writers pitch to her and give it 100%
Also, it's sort of funny that, out of the three leads of MATERIALISTS, it's Dakota Johnson who's going to host SNL for the third time and NOT Pedro Pascal, whom everyone loooooooooved when he hosted a few years ago (and he hasn't been back!).
