Comic retailer, game retailer, Magic player, movie and book lover, person who takes everything 5% too seriously. Too weird for the normies. Too normal for the weirdos. Always the wrong guy. Let's fucking go.
This is making the rounds today and not only should authors talk about their books, readers should also share their favorites! In fact... I should start doing that sometimes.
A Bluesky user has written to me to ask me to stop mentioning my books on here. I wonder... Should I continue trying my best to make a living in a tough world via the writing I've spent decades putting my heart & soul into? Or should I obey them? Nah. I'm going to continue mentioning my books.
@mangiotto.bsky.social is always worth reading because he is an excellent writer. Even when I disagree, his writing is enthralling on its own. That said, I 95% agree with this essay. I walked out of this flick thinking it was perfectly fine. But the more I think on it the better it gets.

There's a lot of challenging things in the world and it easy to cave in. But. Every day I look at my dog. I watch a movie. I listen to songs. And I find the energy to keep going. The worst people want you to quit. Don't. There's still too much beauty to experience. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbow...

There's no way this movie is 40 years old. Because that means I would have been no more than 12 when I saw it and I KNOW I saw it in theaters. Yes, my mom kicked ass. Seriously. Instead of saying "You're too young!" she said "I'm taking you to see it!" :)
Happy 40th to THE FLY, a curiously seminal film for many a Film Freak Central contributor. I believe it was in his MIRACLE MILE book that @mangiotto.bsky.social talked about having the film recorded on audio cassette and ritually listening to it, which flummoxed Cronenberg when he told him.
At first glance I thought this was an ad for Coyote vs Acme.

This series will not see season four. The first part of season one will be huge because of curiosity leading to the the announcement of season two because it will have already been in production. Season three will barrel forward because of sunk cost fallacy. There is no audience for this.
A lot of people are dooming about the Harry Potter TV Series being an inevitable success that will make JK Rowling a ton of money, but I want to remind y'all they are spending more money producing this thing than any TV series has EVER MADE www.republicworld.com/entertainmen...
I basically agree with Bob here! This movie wasn't "great" but it was very enjoyable and was doing something different. It is well worth the time. Just don't overthink it, you can't do that here. But you can have fun considering internal logic holes and laugh at them!

Everyone is talking about Absolute, sure, but DC's collected editions crew has also been killing it for a couple years now. The omnibus/compendium lines have been a treasure trove of classics as well as bringing back lesser known, but still great, works like this one.
Next February DC are releasing UNFOLLOW: The Complete Collection Omnibus. Containing issues 1-18 of my & Mike Dowling’s Vertigo series, with contributions by RM Guera, Simon Gane, Javier Pulido and Ryan Kelly. And Matt Taylor’s covers.

Let me be clear - it's WB and Paramount who think you're idiots. Ketchup Entertainment, who is releasing COYOTE VS. ACME, are fucking heroes. There should be songs written about them to be sung in celestial beer gardens. Thank you, Ketchup. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
COYOTE V. ACME is the spiritual sequel to WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? I've been wondering if anyone would ever attempt much less nail.
Mail day! I adore this movie. The scale of the story is matched by the heart behind it. Think big. Think good. Do the most good you can. And you just might save everyone.
Old enough to remember when every Magic set had a common "Destroy target land" spell variant.
I have picked up using "A.i." thanks to Greg. Especially the lower case i. It isn't intelligent in any way. It's just a processor processing things that are usually stolen and then spitting them back at you.
Fair question! I use the periods to avoid slandering the Alberts, Albertos, and Alfredos of the world. I use a lower case "i" to devalue the industry's claim of "intelligence," because "A.i." is not sentient. And I add the quotes because the whole thing is an inaccurate, bogus marketing term.

Curious: why do you type “A.i.” with the quotes and cases?

After some technical difficulty, I got in on this tonight and thanks to Adam for letting me go on about two of my favorite books. Had a great time listening to everyone else, and anyone who reads this I encourage joining in the convo. Adam is a thoughtful dude.
Hey if you were one of the callers that couldn’t connect, if you’re willing, I’d love to ask you a couple of questions. Trying to get to the bottom of this.
On a whim tonight I watched Masters of the Universe. And my word. That might be the greatest terrible movie I have ever seen. It is not good. It is too long. The plot is stretched thin. CGI is frequently awful. The plot is stretched thing and nonsensical in service of making a franchise. But.
A friend this past weekend asked me how many times I have watched Predator Badlands. I paused. From beginning to end? 7? 8? times? But at the end of a long day where I need a positive affirmation and just watch the last 30 minutes? That number is probably in the hundreds. I love this movie.
This is seriously one of the greatest songs ever written.
I don't even know what to say. This is real, this is true, so, like, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. This took over 25 years to happen so if there's any lesson here it's either "keep at it, who knows" or "many people are divorced"
Every time I encounter someone talking about how perfectly crafted the Infinity Saga was planned I'm like "Did you SEE The Dark World?" And the answer is always no, because even those who watched it blotted it from their brain pan.
I just watched a bunch of movies to prep for Doomsday and the closest thing I saw to a dud was Quantumania. But even compared to say, the Iron Man sequels or Thor: The Dark World, Quantumania was way more watchable.
Yeah this is an incredible little story. Gail is the best.
Okay, I am going to tell a little story. It's one I have saved for the last couple years, almost nobody knows about it. But it lives in my heart. I don't know how others will feel about it, maybe something, maybe nothing. It's about the Uncanny X-Men. 1/
