A good prank would be to start an "alt" account that claims to be from secret resistance staffers inside a govt agency except instead of like national parks it's the white house staff and you share obvious secrets they think they hide well and they freak out and accuse each other of being the leak

I know you have to be careful because "their lives are too easy so they have to invent problems to complain about" is a favorite thing conservatives like to say about liberals bringing up real problems like racism or sexism, but that does seem to be what's going on with the Atlantic specifically

I think one reason a lot of people want to believe everything is worse than ever is the vitamin post. You're struggling and don't know why it's so hard and what's wrong with you, so imagine how it feels to find out you've got by despite it actually being harder than it's ever been for anyone before

I think a lot of the vitriol against people insisting things have gotten better over the past 100 years or so is not people being mad at the bare assertion but being mad at the assumed conclusion that things are fine and we don't need drastic fixes. Which some of those people don't mean but some do

Maybe unfair take but I feel kind of like the really crazy AI guys really help moderately crazy AI people tell themselves "I'm fine, I'm not nearly as bad as THAT guy. In fact after looking at him I've never felt more reassured about how reasonable and moderate my approach/usage is"

I looked through Altman's twitter feed and there's a tweet where he asks people their best or most impressive use cases of ChatGPT and it's all mundane shit like this. People using it to convert recipe units, brainstorm vacation destinations, plan outfits. These people are braindead

AI chatbots lie a lot, sure, but not nearly as much as people who say they only use it a teensy bit for research or brainstorming and always check everything before putting it into the finished work

This has been going around today and it just occurred to me that this makes perfect sense if you don't have full custody of your kids and you are desperately overdoing things trying to play catch-up and act just as involved as ever when you do have them

I think a lot of people that are really against something fall really hard when they flip because being really against something often involves eagerly believing anything bad about it without verifying, and when you find out one of those was wrong you get shook like was I wrong about everything??

"guestreservations dot com" is the worst site, they make a subdomain for every hotel so it's like name-of-hotel[.]guestreservations[.]com and they buy google ads so that they come up as the first result when you search for that hotel's name, and you mistakenly think it's the hotel's official website
