until liberals understand that reform don't have to win elections to win overall, they're going to constantly contort themselves around whichever lesser evil politics they've chosen to back.
My dad, and his before him, we're tenant farmers. We lived and worked on the land owned by a laird. Losing the job meant lising our home (this happened several times). Mum's side was Edwardian middle class 100ish years ago, which meant they had servants. A chauffeur drove my gran to school.

(I could tell wildly different stories about my own social class by picking the biographies of two grandparents - one from each parent.)
I so often see Americans defend the Democrat's worthlessness with "they don't control this gov branch" or "they don't have the numbers" (because a convenient number of Dems vote with the GOP), but Labour supporters have no such excuse. Labour can do whatever they want. This is what they want.

If you only oppose a sexual abuser when they're your political enemy then you don't actually oppose sexual abuse.
Not that I believed Burnham was going to meaningfully transform Labour, but I'm surprised how aggressively he's established himself as just another right wing empty suit.

obviously I hate Reform and the Tories because they're the natural enemy of everything I believe in, but I *despise* the Labour right because they have sabotaged any possibility of an alternative from within, and salted the earth behind them, out of sheer petty vindictiveness
I suspect something along the recent lines of: Labour voters switch to Reform = 'We hear you and dear God do we share your concerns' Labour voters switch to Green = 'You are being very silly and should just GROW UP'

The Democrats sense that they're gonna cruise to midterm victory by doing nothing and offering nothing and are using it as a freebie to punch left to make sure the voters don't get any ideas.
