For #InsectThursday and #BugSky, my favorite finds over the past few weeks. A grail moth, the Regal Moth found in a garden center, a Silver Long-jawed Orb Weaver, and a newly discovered flightless grasshopper (Melanoplus ingrami) that is only found in our Middle TN limestone cedar glades.

A photo of a large female Citheronia regalis (Regal Moth) in my hand while laying eggs. It has dark orange veins along the wings on a grey background. The body is vibrant orange with cream colored stripes.A closeup picture of a spindly legged, tan colored Silver Long-Jawed Orbweaver (Tetragnatha laboriosa) spider with a small head and an elongated body.A closeup picture of a tan and grey striped, flightless Melanopus ingrami grasshopper on a friend's arm. This species is newly discovered, named for Wayne "Buddy" Ingram, a naturalist and interpretive officer of the Cedars of Lebanon park in Tennessee.
