One of my empirical-work econ takes is that I think academia should be *more* open to publishing work based on best-we-can-do weak data, as long as there's really no other way to address the question and that work is very clear about what it can and can't actually say.

Yup, Vivian and I make the case that we need a federal role in education research and dissemination for empirical evidence to really factor into local decision-making. That doesn't imply that @IES can't be improved, I think it can, but it does serve a crucial role in the education ecosystem!

If the House's permanent daylight savings time bill becomes law, it's going to force districts to move high school start times back--unless they want teenagers to be even more exhausted than they are now.

Florida called a special session to try to change the clocks back. That attempt in the 1970s quickly became unpopular.
One of the more charming and hilarious things about Italy is the amazing and deeply weird slow jazz versions of English language pop hits that play in seemingly every bar and restaurant. Yes I absolutely needed that slow jazz “Baby one more time” while I ate my apricot pie for breakfast.
Ossoff is really good at this. I’m nearly all in on him for 2028 (though I still clinging on to hope for the Great Kahn of the Midwest).
