1/ Kemi Badenoch says she isn't a climate denier. Let's take her at her word. Here are five findings she wrote around this week as though they don't exist. 🧵
True. Questioning net zero isn't the same as climate denial. But "it's a bad plan" only gets you halfway there. The other half is producing viable alternatives that actually align with the science and cut emissions, not just delaying action. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/07...
Net zero scepticism is not climate-change denial
You can accept the science but still question the laws, subsidies, targets and prohibitions that are meant to solve the problem

So many smart people opining like complete idiots in the face of life threatening climate change for people in this country and across the world. @telegraph.co.uk & @thespectator1828.bsky.social are the climate deniers extraordinary. What a waste of education!
The Daily Telegraph has raced through all five stages of climate denial this week. But this is, perhaps, the most ridiculous column so far: "Without minimising the severe downsides…especially on some poorer nations, many in Britain would enjoy the kind of warmer climate predicted by modellers..."
This is the letter that the current Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has written to the Telegraph in response to yesterday's column by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard. Note how she - yet again - doesn't actually explain how she would tackle climate change 🤔
🌊Water shouldn't be a commodity. It should be a public good. Over 160,000 people have signed a petition demanding a referendum on public ownership of water - enough to force a debate in Parliament on Monday 14th September. Help me fill the room: actionnetwork.org/letters/ask-...

Exactly. There will be no new normal. The weather will keep becoming more extreme until the world decarbonises. We might have the odd calmer year but the trend will be more extreme. So today’s UK weather is the least extreme we can ever expect. Time to finally WAKE UP.
NO! It's going to keep getting hotter year-on-year, decade-by-decade Until we stop pumping out greenhouse gases and positive feedback loops and tipped tipping points have finished with us And the temperature will stay elevated for many thousands of years www.theguardian.com/world/video/...

Climate Stress May Lower Soybean Seed Quality
A new AI-supported study suggests elevated CO₂, heat and drought may increase soybean production, but reduce starch and protein levels in the seed. A study published in Food Research International has analyzed how three climate pressures — increased carbon dioxide (CO₂), high temperatures and drought — could affect soybean quality. Using artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive modeling based on experimentally verified data, the study found that soybeans exposed to all three factors could produce 50% more beans, but with lower nutritional quality. The study was led by scientists from the Laboratory of Ecological Plant Physiology (LAFIECO) in the Department of Botany at the University of São Paulo’s Institute of Biosciences (IB-USP) in Brazil. Researchers found that soybeans exposed to the triple climate impact had 20% less starch and 6% less protein. They also recorded a 175% increase in amino acid content. “That increase in amino acids was unexpected. We don’t even know the effect of it on animals. We need to understand the effects of the triple impact on protein metabolism, which is very important for soybeans used in animal feed. We’ve seen that protein decreases in drastic climate change scenarios. Additionally, the bean loses starch, meaning less energy,” summarizes...
