Freelance entertainment journalist. Going through it. I've been to Prague.
He looks hammered to me. And of course Tapper didn't go harder because he may need access to this man and his benefactors in the future.
A lot going on here. First, Miller looks shaken. Or drunk. Second, he comes off every bit the creep that he seems to be. Saying he isn't dropping out because Trump didn't drop out after being accused of sexual assault is a hell of a choice. And third, he doesn't appear to know what hearsay means.
Salt Lake City Weekly is hiring a 25-hour Associate A&E Editor to oversee local Music & Dining sections, plus other special issues. Point interested parties my way.
This isn’t an interview. It’s a great theatrical monologue waiting for an actor.
You can thank this retired projectionist for those 3 a.m. showings of ‘The Odyssey’ in 70-mm. Imax, Christopher Nolan’s preferred format.
Harvey Pekar was a great Letterman guest, but he was real. When I got to interview him, I understood the sorrow of being used. I'ld love to talk to Letterman about this. Pekar played the part, but he was an easily ridiculed oddity when, in reality, he was a radical, hyper-educated bomb-thrower.
Blue collar intellectual. One of my favorite interviews. Support Harvey Pekar's oeuvre. An essential American author.

David Cronenberg's THE FLY is a three-act tragedy. It's one of the greatest films I've ever seen.
My son was just asking ChatGPT a question and it pretended to type while it looked something up, so I asked why it pretended to type when it obviously is not typing, and it literally said back to me “good catch” and I want to murder everything in sight
I promise I'll stop sharing this soon, but we're really close to completing the current phase and I (think) unlocking the final stretch. This cost about what I make in a year as a freelance writer. Anything helps, even a share. <3 www.gofundme.com/f/bj-needs-a...

Jennifer Jason Leigh is one of our greatest actors. So I find it amusing that her performance in BACKDRAFT is a whole heap of "Why the fuck am I here?" DeMornay is similarly wasted.
Do not, under any circumstances, fuck with Gina Prince-Bythewood. She's bona fide.
I think Ti is a talented filmmaker, but, man, he's gone to the dark side. He's better than this, but money must be sweet.
Ti West made an entire horror trilogy about how Hollywood is built on the abuse and exploitation of women and immediately decided to help make this.
👇 "The vast majority of people who work in film and television are not studio executives, nor are they famous actors. They are, overwhelmingly, blue-collar workers, freelancers, and small businesses. And they are in free fall." Yes.
People think "Hollywood" is rich and famous. The reality? Film and TV is a national industry. It's a blue collar industry. And it is an industry free fall. My latest for @newrepublic.com on how the Paramount merger would crush blue collar workers who can not afford it newrepublic.com/article/2136...
In praise of Kavinsky, and one of the greatest opening title sequences in film history.

Being able to own your mistakes is an essential part of being human. In my experience, most Trump supporters are not human.
Questions like this usually aren’t straightforwardly useful in polling IMO but when paired with things like approval ratings, they are revealing of how much people will tie themselves in knots to avoid admitting they made a mistake, and how culturally radioactive “regret” as a concept is

I think we're going to see a dynamic, zero IP August with THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING and THE END OF OAK STREET from two of the most exciting filmmakers working today. Andrew Patterson and my boy D-Rob Mitchell fixing to shake shit up.
Worth remembering that Talarico raised so much money he just gave some away to other Texas candidates and Mamdani raised so much money during the primary that he told people to donate to Adrienne Adams. People aren't giving up on Ds. They just don't like the DNC. The DNC should think about that!
can my comparative politics folks come up with any other example of the opposition party being $2m in debt when the incumbent government is ~20 points underwater on approval?
For those of you who are still over there because of "the reach" or "the discourse" or whatever.
Musk calls for the assassination of a reporter who embarrassed him with basic questions
This is doing another round, so I’ll add that like other political posters Schatz used to DM with me but I asked him to stop because I didn’t think he was communicating in good faith. Ultimately, a lot of politicians just tell people what they want to hear until they can’t get away with it anymore.
Gross to see a senator skip over the part where the aid was cut off illegally and without warning. Cooking their brains on a right wing owned social media site.
Every single major media outlet will be controlled by Trump-friendly corporations within the next year. It's weird that we're meekly accepting this. In any event, football will be back in August. Rejoice.
I don't like writing snap obits. Chuck Russell was a major influence for me, but sometimes you can't instantly access the necessary emotions. He was important, and he deserved better than he got. Godspeed to a genre great.

Jimothy should be in a refuge of some sort. The people delighting in Jimothy's painful physical deformity are the dumbest people you will ever meet. As this article explains, this is an animal that is easy prey or likely roadkill. Get them somewhere safe.
Although short spine syndrome has made Jimothy a star, it also makes their life harder.
