He/him. Genre fluid lover of art, most likely to be talking about films, music, & books. Originally from Texas, now living in a Pitt. Proud father. My profile on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/37V3D
As if I need more reasons to despise Live Nation, they've killed my favorite website for discovering new music every week. RIP @brooklynvegan.bsky.social and thanks for all the artists you brought my way over the years. Hope your writers land somewhere better to keep doing the good work.
“Music publications BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been gutted by parent company Veeps... Nearly all the staff at each publication appear to have been laid off yesterday. Veeps, which is now owned by Live Nation, acquired the publications in 2024 or 2025”
we need a thriving music media for a thriving music scene to exist. and what’s happening to BVegan and Alt Press and Revolver is fucking gutting
Being an ally can be hard sometimes. You get yelled at by a LOT of shitheads just for speaking up. But not giving money to hateful people/organizations actively making the lives of those you claim to care most about worse? That's the easiest fucking part of allyship. If you can't give up that...🤷
Since I don't think I've said it here yet Fuck Eli Roth 👍
Just in case you need another reason to skip Ice Cream Man, it’s now confirmed that Gen-AI was used. He just “misspoke” when he said it wasn’t. 🙄🙄🙄 www.polygon.com/eli-roth-ice...
Eli Roth Confirms He Used Generative AI in His New Movie 'Ice Cream Man':
The horror director confirmed using generative AI for the film, but it's still unclear exactly where it appears in the finished film.

IS GOD IS is a magnificent feature film debut from Aleshea Harris. Kara Young and Mallori Johnson are fierce af and darkly funny. This a brutal revenge story and Sterling K. Brown gives a sinister, egosentric performance. Highly recommend. #filmsky
Happy #LetterboxdFriday! What's YOUR #LastFourWatched? Said goodbye to Chuck Russell (paired with Dream Warriors, not shown), was reminded how much I adore Michel Gondry, took a fun ride with a Jonathan Demme film that's best going into blind, & was underwhelmed by a classic rom-com. #Letterboxd 📽️
Happy #LetterboxdFriday! What's YOUR #LastFourWatched? I witnessed Doc from Gunsmoke as a shady lawyer, puzzled over Ian McKellen being too old for a role by decades (but enjoyed it anyway), solved the mystery of a Wu-Tang Clan favorite, & felt the summer heat with an erotic thriller. #Letterboxd
Unique Vintage is 70% of my professional closet. When they announced their Harry Potter collab, I immediately reached out sharing my profound disappointment, noting that I'd no longer be supporting their company. The second image is the response I received which, while canned, surprised me a bit.
Someone should do a newsletter called, "Why AI Sucks: This Week," and it's just a summary of the MANY dystopian shit-ass stories of how AI is ruining us* and gorging itself on our culture and knowledge only to feed it back to us, but worse, at a premium. *the environment, information fidelity, etc
No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.
Increasingly, Soylent Green serves as one of the best metaphors for AI -- it's taking all that we are, as people, chumming it up, and feeding the slurry back to us. We're told that we need it, it's nutritious, it'll save the world, even as it damns it and us.
Odyssey this. Odyssey that. We Odyssey ICE abolished.
3 things I learned from #Backrooms: 1. No one buys furniture from a pirate. 2. A bed is a bed no matter what room it's in. 3. There's a good reason employees say "No," when you ask if they have any more in the back. #filmsky 🎬 #movies 📽️ #Horrormovies #fearfriday 📽️ boxd.it/fx5667

I'm not letting AI horseshit maneuver me into a defensive position with my writing. I write like I write. I love emdashes. I keep using emdashes. Whatever we write, AI will take and copy it -- all you can do is keep writing the best shit you can write in the form you want it to take, and fuck it.
Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...

“The coolest band in the world continues to get cooler. There’s no one like them. The live show is explosive and joyful. If they play near you, you have to go. If you don’t have a good time, email me and I’ll pay for your ticket. I am completely serious” Some lovely praise for Perennial!
A bunch of great new songs for you plus I wrote about seeing Jimmy Eat World play Bleed American, the Red Sox are good again, ICE, my stay-at-home-dad summer, RIP Ekko Astral, and a few of my faves from last year.

I miss the great American tradition of not thinking about the president constantly.
The AP giving a redemption arc to a known white supremacist should show us all that corporate media cannot be trusted or saved.

Tonight's agenda: Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors followed by The Blob. Thanks, Chuck Russell 📽️
A genuinely terrific stylist with a great POV. Still mad his career got sidelined by a lot of BS around The Scorpion King (that really wasn't on him at alllll). Feel like we could have gotten so many more big, weird, joyful movies. Fun note: He also produced BACK TO SCHOOL and COLLATERAL!
Filmmaker Chuck Russell has passed away at 74. Chuck Russell directed The Blob & Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors in the 1980s, and later directed The Mask, Eraser, Bless the Child, The Scorpion King, and Witchboard (2025). A horror legacy that will never be forgotten.
