Such an amazing shot 😍
While birding in eastern Colorado, I saw these birds flying toward me. I fired off a few shots but never expected any to turn out. Well, I was wrong! A pair of Greater Yellowlegs! I've certainly never gotten these birds in flight! 😎😎😎 #Yellowlegs #Colorado #birdsseenin2026
I know many readers want a likable protagonist, but imo interesting is > likable. Can be both, obv, but if I have to pick one, I'm going with interesting.
So your protagonist is a terrible, badly behaved person–but you still want the audience to like them (or, at least, root for them)! @jdnicoll.bsky.social suggests five strategies for making a morally bankrupt protagonist seem likable...
As someone who is very deeply into preservation and archival work of media, this ain't it. It is one thing to have back-ups of media that is no longer easily purchased or long out of print but these are recently published, actively sold works that are directly tied to the writers and artists' income
friends, please: don’t use transreads dot org they claim to support trans authors, but take our entire texts, post them for free, fundraise off it, and have the gall to claim it’s about preservation they are literally taking money from trans creators and make it harder for us to keep creating
It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.
Taylor Farms, which supplies major fast food and grocery chains, was identified as the possible source of the cyclosporiasis outbreak Thursday.

HHS confirmed on Friday that the agency is canceling 53 out of 67 grants, worth about $68 million, under the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, affecting grantees in more than two dozen states. This story was originally published by @stateline.org.

I was out early on this gray, overcast morning and spotted Cedar Waxwings catching insects at Central Park's Pool. I love how atmospheric this shot is! 🥰🥰🥰 #Waxwings #CentralPark #birding
I have been trying and failing to recreate the pastelitos de guayaba Husband’s godmother used to make. These things were divine, and the recipe died with her. The pastry was a cross btw pie crust, cookie, & shortbread 😭
Where you'll see a rare bird. Thanks to @ryanfm.bsky.social's newsletter for teaching me about the Cabanis's ground-sparrow that lives behind the walmart
Tried to listen to my own Radio 2 episode to make sure it's okay and that I didn't say dumb things, but ended up bailing after the first sentence. Just can't listen to my own voice I'm afraid 😆 Anyway, here is the obligatory share. open.spotify.com/episode/6Plz...

Wow, must be great fun to be an editor at HarperCollins, knowing that the "content" you work on and publish will be used by the Big Bad Machines to put you out of a job and damned soon too.
Gross. (From Publishers Lunch newsletter)
Peek-a-boo, I see you! A stunning Scarlet Tanager peering down from the top of Central Park's 'magic' tulip tree. Birders call it magic because it attracts so many warblers, tanagers, orioles and grosbeaks every year. #Tanager #CentralPark #birding

PSA for writers of time travel or 80s fiction. These were not soft & fuzzy days of yore in big cities = people left their doors unlocked. In fact we had things called police locks: much stronger/more complicated than standard locks. Love, Someone who was there, & just giggled through an episode
the two-year anniversary of The Originalism Trap is now one month away and I have sold 5,970 books! that smooth 6,000 mark looks so close and achievable! if you haven't gotten a copy yet or told your people to do so, please let this be a nudge 😅 🙏🏾 bookshop.org/p/books/the-...
unreal to realize that, in about 2 months, it'll be 2 years since The Originalism Trap came out I've sold 5,925 copies so far, which is probably pretty good for a Black girl nobody had ever heard of writing a book about the Constitution? hope I can hit 6K! www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/735353...
