If you falsely but strongly believe that your students' intelligence is based on race and gender you will be unable to treat or grade them fairly. This includes giving white and male students too high grades as well as giving Black and female students too low ones
The hard right has an incredible about of institutional support. Remember when the used to rail against "The Globalists"? Your own opinion piece in the WSJ and the US ambassador to Belgium trying to get you your job back. The US state is not friendly.

Would be a real mistake to think there's a normal the US might resort to after Trump. Would be totally irresponsible to plan for that. Accept Amerexit and always be wary.

The ill-fated Arday necessarily became a target along the way, but on that broader target, the Right will now feel emboldened.
There was a journalistic pile on and this one was involved. The idea that you can write endless about a private citizen disparagingly and then police how others respond is wild.

I think it’s just worth remembering that as the media handwring to justify publicly humiliating and hounding a man to death, just two weeks ago they gave glowing eulogies to another man with a history of domestic violence and brushed off his own statements about having pedophillic impulses
It was quite telling how at a time when an authoritarian American President and a reactionary American tech oligarch clearly left the bounds of sanity so much of the Anglosphere Right became obsessed with the frailties and blunders of a relatively obscure black British professor
No one deserves and end like that, especially not for these kind of failings. Who knows if it might have ended differently if media let him be after he quit but it is worth thinking about.
"DEI" and trans rights. Two areas where questionable centrists have been unwittingly coopted into the right's viscious purges. If the lunatic right is obsessing about something, maybe have a think first.

im genuinely distressed by the Arday news, I can't quite get my head around the cruelty I saw on display and I don't want to share a profession with those who did hunt him for days.

Agree. After all the revelations, turnout was still decent for a byelection and Farage gained votes. Reform can spin and sell this to their supporters as a success while opponents will see what they want to believe. Imo Farage bought himself a month to get his defence investigation defence in order

But Binface vote share at higher end of expectations showing as elsewhere opposition is also motivated to turnout against Reform
