Coastal dweller switches to rural idyll. Derelict cottage with garden along nettly prickly lane. Tiny dog. Elder (now deceased but not yet gone ) Sorting Stuff. Literature. Arts. iPad rubbish. Now what ?

A plea to all you wonderful folks who are thinking to adopt (not buy) a dog or cat… The shelters are FILLED with animals who’ve been surrendered. Yesterday they had a bed and a family and now they are confused and terrified through no fault of their own. Consider giving them a next chapter.

Tiny Ted agrees it’s cool enough for the (slightly scruffy looking) heated throw. We are having a sofa afternoon after extensive cupboard clearing and organising yesterday plus honey chasing this morning and a walk and then a food shop (stockpiling, I’ve purchased a few items)

A small papillon snuggles down under a heated blanket.

Paddling (canoeing) across Windermere today, into the teeth of a pretty stiff Force 3 wind - lumpy, and just this side of whitecaps - I came across a swimming squirrel, looking very stressed. Not a planned swim, I'm guessing. It was 300m to either shore, so I'm not sure s/he was going to be okay.

I’m sorting kitchen cupboards. It’s the final one. The one I avoid because it has the pong. I’m going in. I have removed my sweater and have a variety of sanitisers at the ready. Also a dehumidifier and a fan heater the gas board gave me last year during the carbon monoxide business.

Ikea restaurant yesterday. I spend so much time in solitude and nature that Ikea is my place of joy if I need “escape”- remembering the day Tiny Newman and I were there late and she said if only we had brought our PJs we could have stayed here and hidden from school and work for a while :) ..

Stress Watch app suggests I get some morning sunshine to improve my slightly dodgy reading. Might be tricky. Much improved from yesterday though so I’ll survive :)

I did my German. Discussing political opinions. Please ! And last night in conversation with Erik when I ventured haltingly what I had for my breakfast he wanted to know if I bought my granola or made it myself … Heaven forfend I get to an even higher stage. And when he says Das ist Super …

My French and German are flashing at me. I’m resisting till the dog is more awake. She gives me Looks when she wakes to hear me speaking in Languages Unknown at the crack of Dawn.

The tiny dog I’m very grateful to. She stood up and wagged her tail at ten pm and invited me to take her out which means we don’t have to get up for quite a while yet. It sounds damp and cold out there. I dreamed I was permanently in charge of a Bebe. It’s been a long night.

A small dog fast asleep snoring lightly under blankets.

Tiny Ted and I came upstairs at six as I lit the stove at half two and it was very hot and stuffy downstairs. We went to the garden before coming up. I invited TT to go out again just now before changing into my PJs but she has declined. I think it must be Autumn.

A small papillon prefers to stay tucked up rather than go out for last ablutions. She is pictured against her various fleece blankets and appears to be talking back.

Metro off yesterday so took to the buses instead with Bebe to get to play cafe in town. Very different experience. Tension and unrest over who had priority over the accessible spaces (it didn’t include us) with vicious verbal sparring between passengers. It was hostile and horrible. Bebe …

The Harvest Moon is the name of the full moon that is closest to the autumn equinox and this year it occurs today, September 26th. Traditionally this was a time for gathering crops. The Harvest Moon rises around sunset for several nights in a row, providing farmers with 🎨 Hannah Willow

Planned to get take out from the lovely Indian place near the station as I did last week , but after indulging in the warm cake I didn’t have space and drove past a bit sadly on my way from picking up a parcel. Next week ….
