The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

Trust me that I also don’t want young people encountering sexy movies online. The reason I oppose most age verification tech in its current form is that there is too much data collected, too much privacy violation potential, too much tracking potential, to be good for anyone, especially kids.

This is precisely why we need oversight of AI in decision making. And if it’s incapable, then it can’t be applied.

Ontario jails are using an AI tool that claims to predict prisoners’ behaviour. And it’s disproportionately placing Black prisoners in maximum security. An investigation by @desmondcole.bsky.social reveals the province knew the tool would discriminate against Black people—and used it anyway.

Trust that sex workers and the adult world generally knows who these kind of people are, and we couldn’t be happier to be rid of them. This guy has been allowed to publicly run rampant and remain platformed for so long while workers themselves eat the brunt of surveillance. Wild.
