It is very possible to be patriotic for the South while being a rabid anti-confederate. In fact, I would argue that the ONLY way to have love for this place is to hate what it has/is done/doing, and be motivated to make it change out of the love for what it could be.

The thing about having studied Florida history is that I just have so, so, so much love and admiration for all of the Black and Indigenous people in Florida, and so, so, so much anger for the political establishment(s) that consistently sell them out

I don't think that I've ever seen a headline for a plane crash mention the pilot's age, nevermind *lead the headline* with that info. The only implication to draw from that is the NYT is already blaming her relative inexperience, in which case I hope her family takes them for every last dime.
