BREAKING: A court overturned Ohio's ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth. This is a critical victory for trans rights.
I am somehow for the first time ever reviewing for PNAS and their reviewer instructions include this BANGER of a line: "The purpose of peer review is not to demonstrate proficiency in identifying flaws" Print it in eleventy point font and hang it from the hillside. Scream it from the rooftops.
Rep. Zooey Zephyr - My Wife - just gave an incredible speech against a drag ban in Montana. It was so strong that a Republican rose to speak passionately against the bill, chastising the sponsor. The drag ban dies in Montana, flips 10+ Republican votes! This is the power of representation.
"We are older than your laws and we will outlive them," one sign said. EITM correspondent S. Baum attended this weekend's Stonewall protest, organized by Transexual Menace, which connected trans elders, youth, and everyone in between. Read their story and subscribe to support our journalism.

"When he realized that Senate Republicans were characterizing his [NSF] project as one of many they considered ideological and of questionable scientific value, Darren Lipomi, chair of chemical engineering at the University of Rochester, was incensed." undark.org/2025/02/21/a...
In War Against DEI in Science, Researchers See Collateral Damage
Senate Republicans flagged thousands of grants as "woke DEI" research. But what does that really mean?

My lab made a (much needed) cute card. Will you be the PEDOT to my PSS?
Oh my god. They removed "transgender" from the page about Trans woman Sylvia Rivera's page at the National Park service. "Sylvia Rivera began fighting for gay and _____ rights" WOW.
The National Park Service has removed "T" and all mention of transgender people from the Stonewall National Monument. Trans women were some of the most influential activists behind the Stonewall movement and what followed. 3 articles of clothing laws were why raids happened. Erasure.
“A @royalsociety.org spokesperson said: “Dorothy Bishop and Andrew Miller are outstanding scientists who have made significant contributions to the Society over the years. Their resignations are a source of deep regret.”” I wonder what could be done if you actually *deeply* regretted something…? 🤔

No American Chemical Society?
Professional societies stand together in defense of science & scientists. “science has led to humanity’s greatest advances, improving people’s lives & the health of our planet … (we’re) committed to supporting, elevating, & fighting for science & those who further it.“ www.unitedsciencealliance.org
Rescued a cat today that we’ve been feeding for a few weeks. The vet says it looks like he had a serious run-in with a car at some point. His lower jaw was broken and fused in the wrong position so it’s hard for him to eat. He’s a sweet boy - likely an abandoned cat. Why do people do this 😡
in america giant bodies of water can change their names, but trans people can’t

“There have been no official statements either on these assaults on inclusion nor on the more general anti-science crusade from the American Chemical or Physical Societies (my enquiries to both have gone unanswered to date), nor from the US National Academy of Sciences.” 😞
'No one can expect individual scientists to make a stand, at professional and even personal danger (even though some are doing so),' writes Philip Ball. 'But prudence cannot mean timidity, nor can it risk looking like it.'

BREAKING — I'm told OPM just sent out this memo with guidance for implementing Trump's "Defending Women" anti-trans executive order. "Take down all outward facing media that inculcate or promote gender ideology. Review email systems and turn off features that prompt users for their pronouns."
On day one Trump's EO said we were harmful to kids. On day two, it said we were dishonorable and disloyal. On day three, it said we were unAmerican. Transgender people have been a part of this country for centuries. We are not going anywhere. Do not comply with these EOs, they are not law.
This is just plain evil 💔
BREAKING: Trump signs an executive order that attempts to restrict all schools that receive federal funds from protecting trans and nonbinary students or supporting diversity measures, while at the same time purporting to advance "patriotic education." www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...
“If you ask them, Democratic staff, political advisers, lobbyists, and civil rights advocates will admit they hadn’t prepared to defend trans people at the national level right now.” Good time to reup my story for @rollingstone.com www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...
Will Democrats Let the GOP Gut Trans Health Care?
Donald Trump and Republicans may try to ban funding to companies that perform trans health care. Some fear Democrats won't stop them.

This is absolutely vile. And as Erin notes, parts a, b, and c of this section do not contain an age limit. Like the Tennessee youth ban at SCOTUS, if this is allowed to stand there's nothing stopping them from applying it to adults, too www.erininthemorning.com/p/a-line-by-...
Section 8: Chilling... says the DOJ will investigate trans care under "female genital mutilation," use AGs to target doctors, use the FDA to attempt to ban trans youth care, promote legislation to enact PRIAs to ban youth care, and target trans sanctuary states using the "Parental Kidnapping act"
