When you slow down and think about it you realize it's ten times worse than it seems. Sure it's farcical, but it's also a brutal legal attack on a man they knew to be innocent, done to distract from their own thievery and incompetence and as a flex to terrify anyone who might make them look bad.

nevermind that overdoses have fallen by a third since 2023, homicides are down 31%, and june was the first homicide-free june in seattle since 1970. and this occurred at a time when the city consistently paid cops more to do their jobs less. the popular narrative is just fucking wrong.

In reality, the city has never adequately funded harm reduction programs and continues to rely on incarceration to address homelessness. What Powell wants is what we're doing.
