The UK will experience a partial solar eclipse on Wednesday 12 August. The extent of the Sun's coverage and the timing of maximum obscuration will differ across the country. Never look directly at the sun; use a pinhole projector or certified eclipse glasses to view it.

What a lovely pair! It seems like bees etc. don't like aubergine flowers. A few flowers fell off due to lack of pollination so I had to pollinate them with a paintbrush! 🍆🌱
🍆👀 Can't wait for these to ripen! And I also didn't know that aubergine plants have thorny leaves and buds 🌱
Just booked my tickets! I haven't been to the cinema in 7+ years and I've never seen an IMAX film before, so I'm looking forward to this 😍 #TheOdyssey
🎬 The adventure isn't over yet… New screenings of The Odyssey in magnificent IMAX 70mm are now on sale. Experience it on the big screen - book your tickets now: https://bit.ly/4w4CZhf #TheOdyssey #IMAX70mm #ScienceMuseum © 2025 UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
Got a few DMs asking for advice when it comes to eclipse prep, and given that the August 12 total solar eclipse is just 4 weeks away, I put together a simple guide. The UK won't have totality, but it will be over 90 percent, so please sort out your glasses! www.theastroholic.co.uk/august-solar...

Late Neolithic macehead which was found during 1839 at Dounby Farm in Sandwick on Orkney. Discovered in a burial cist, the macehead is now part of the collections at Orkney Museum in Kirkwall. 📸 My own. #FindsFriday #Prehistory #Orkney
Happy "bees and other assorted insects getting drunk on lavender season" to all who celebrate! I love watching them feed and listening to the buzz
Lavender is like catnip for bees 🌱

The best gallery in the museum. But then again, I am a bit biased #minerals
Just a moment of appreciation for our Minerals gallery! 😍💎 From sparkling gems to striking minerals from around the world, there’s so much to explore! Did you know that the specimens are displayed in original 19th century oak cabinets?
I made a very brief trip to the Lake District to install some NHM mineral specimens in an exhibition at Brantwood about John Ruskin's mineral collection. It opens on the 3rd July so there will be some photos soon: www.brantwood.org.uk/exhibition/t... #minerals #museums

I love it when animals look like #minerals. In this case: tiny clusters of natrolite
Turn over a rotting log anywhere in the world, and you might find these beautiful structures, known as the common coral slime (Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa). The species was first described in 1729 by Pier Antonio Micheli, the 'founding father' of mycology — the branch of biology concerning fungi. 🧪🍄

Not to repeat myself again, but it is bad that we are now two years into a Labour government and a major shift has been we now have annual riots that the government struggles to condemn.
I was on the Tube and when I took my hoodie off to reveal my @wolfskulljack.bsky.social t-shirt, a tiny Pomeranian started barking its head off at me. I guess dogs don't like werewolves 😂
