A giant clam can top 200 kg and live over a century, but it barely feeds. It farms algae in its colorful mantle, living on the sugar they make in sunlight. Its blue-green cells act like lenses, aiming light at the captive gardens inside. Sunlight built this giant. 🧪 #HowToBuildAGiant #marinelife

Amber LED street lights could save millions of insects. New research shows 1800K amber LEDs cut insect attraction by ~40% compared to standard white LEDs, emitting almost no blue light. The study tracked 71,000 bugs across 6 German railway stations. #LightPollution #Insects #Wildlife #DarkSkies

Help required please #moth people! How do I safely remove/free moths from inside my house? I'm scared of hurting them and they aren't very good at following instructions (I'm not very good at Mothspeak, to be fair)
For those who haven't heard of this yet, the fastest/easiest way to reduce indoor air pollution from wildfire smoke is to get a basic 20x20 box fan, and slap a single 20x20 air filter (make sure it's very high MERV) on the back. No tape or anything, it just sticks to the back of the fan.

There's always something you can do, in your corner of the landscape, to help. It may feel overwhelming at times - and there's definitely a lively market in despair when failing, often repeatedly, to do a good deed - but nature usually rewards perseverance in the end. It then makes you want more. \2
