I’ve officially resigned as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience. It used to be a reputable journal, but became a case study in how forced automation destroys academic integrity. 👇
We conclude by proposing a @manybabies.org -esque "ManyObservations" collaboration. Please get in touch if interested!

Lamento profundamente a partida do prof Raul Pacheco-Vega. Conhecia-o apenas via Twitter, mas sua generosidade ultrapassou fronteiras geográficas, acadêmicas e linguísticas. Aqui deixo o link do seu blog, sempre informativo. www.raulpacheco.org/blog/

Really shocked to hear of the passing of @raulpachecovega.bsky.social. I have been following him for over a decade, first on Twitter and now here. He was a source of endless amounts of great advice about writing and I learned a lot about how to do academia from him.
For non- Spanish speakers, this is announcement of the passing of Raúl Pacheco Vega. It doesn’t say when or what happened, but comments on his work and how generous he has been to colleagues not just at his home institution but around the world.

Brazil now has a few funding calls for collabs with Latin America, Africa and BRICS. All of them require affiliation w local institutions. This reminds of earlier discussions about the relevance of affiliations in global science. +

Reminds me of our findings comparing unequal sharing in Brazilian versus English kids for my PhD. No differences in amount shared, but on active (UK) versus passive (BR) sharing. BR kids took their share more often. Small effect size (afair) and urban communities though.
New paper with @dstibbardhawkes.bsky.social exploring responses to unequal distributions in Hadza hunter-gatherers. Equal distributions were more like to come from people *taking* from peers with more rather than giving to peers with less.

Thrilled to share our latest paper, out now in Science Advances! We explored the development of cooperative behaviors — fairness, trustworthiness, forgiveness, & honesty — across five societies, culturally contextualizing them & seeing how they correlate. (1/5) www.science.org/doi/full/10....
If you have about 20 minutes, I would be grateful if you could help my undergraduate student explore whether common empathy questionnaires are actually interchangable in the ways they are used in the social science literature.
