WFMU record slinger; hopeless Knicks fan. “All the way ‘til the wheels fall off and burn.” Burn It Down! on WFMU: https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/NK

I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.

WFMU’s Hellraiser fundraiser runs through October and gets us through the winter months, when the funds we raised in our spring Marathon are dwindling. There will be countless special programs throughout the month. Help us out with a donation and grab one of two new T-shirts. pledge.wfmu.org

I truly don’t understand this “transplant” nonsense. The whole THING about NYC is that ppl come here from other places to mutate into New Yorkers! TO SEE IF THEY CAN BE KING OF THE HILL, TOP OF THE HEAP! Imho a rando who moved here a year ago is the MOST NY person. Welcome Ohio rando, have a bagel

You’re right—that plane shouldn’t have gone there. That’s my fault, and I should have made sure there wasn’t a terminal in the landing path. Would you like me to call emergency services, or assist with lining up takeoffs?

Why is the vanguard left take on AI suddenly that it’s not an existential threat? Is it because the take that “it will k*ll us all” is being manipulated by douchebags? I’m behind on this a bit. Someone explain.

the way to understand a piece like this from schmitz is that he lives in an urban, cosmopolitan millieu and the popularity of country music is a novelty to him. and so to explain it, he has to fit it into his volkish conception of america, whether or not that makes any actual sense.

I see the NYT is still platforming 'dei crushed white men' bullsh*t. Here it's buried in a 'why rural themed pop culture' is so popular in a piece written by a Princeton grad who lives in New York City. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/13/o...

Today, it’s country music that — for all its commercial success — represents the underdog. As diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives accord advantages to everyone except straight white men; as globalization and an urban, knowledge-based economy have impoverished and emptied out rural communities; and as trust in institutions including higher education and the federal government declines, the culture of rural working-class whites can symbolize an unconstrained way of life that stands apart from the stifling, all-encompassing H.R. bureaucracy that everyone else lives in.

I’m reading Cannery Row. Jesus Christ is it amazing. So great to live in a world where I can be almost 50, have been an avid reader my whole life & have barely scratched the surface of the surface of spectacular books out there.

There’s explosive diarrhea lettuce Screwworm in the beef Blueberries that will kill you Measles cases at a record high Now there’s fibreglass in IV saline. De-regulation kills. And it kills the disabled and elderly the fastest. This was always the plan. Wake up.

Dolly Parton knew what it was like to struggle as she fought for working families her whole career. From providing free books to kids to giving working women our "9 to 5" anthem, she was an icon and an inspiration. Rest in power to our union sister. We will always love you.

RIP Dolly Parton ❤️ Here's a lovely Dolly story: We worked together on "Transamerica." She told me that the bible passage that used to puzzle her the most was, "the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men." She said, "How the heck do you sin against the Holy Ghost, and-

The thing people should know about ZZ Top is that those early records, like Tres Hombres for example, are the gold standard for how rock records should sound. Immaculately recorded records, true auteur stuff, albums that set out to be exactly what they are
